I read a good article a few weeks ago regarding oline play in the NFL, and how it has evolved. It said that the age of the great NFL olines is past. Even recent Super Bowl winners have not had truly GREAT offensive lines. They have solid olines. But not like the great ones of the past. Part of this may be due to the fact defenses have evolved WAY beyond what we used to see years ago. Defenses are EXTREMELY complex and effective now.
What does this mean? It means there are going to be times when your QB gets sacked, knocked down and hurried. It's just a "fact of life" now. Don't get me wrong though, our oline shouldn't be crap like last year. That wasn't an average or decent oline. We all know that.
But I can see THIS oline is plenty good enough to get us to a Super Bowl - if - the other units do THEIR job (defense, ST's, skill offensive players). I'm just trying to be a realist here. I'm an oline nut. A crazy oline nut. So, while I'd like to have 5 Pro-Bowl linemen, backed up by another 5 Pro Bowl linemen (I'm joking here) but "reality" is that we can get plenty of mileage out of this crew - even Webb.
But, heck, I may be delusional too
