Next draft. Do u think Emery will do oline like he did WR's?

Crazy thought. Emery sure seems sharp. He could only fix so much in one off season, and he did one heck of a job. It looks like there wasn't anything left for a serious upgrade at oline, and they're trying to get by this season with what we have.

But, do you think he could be aggressive enough to pull something with the oline after this season - similar to what he did with the age old WR problems we had? Think about it. WR's woes have dogged this organization forever. Emery did a bigtime upgrade with Marshall and Jeffreys. The other chronic problem we have is oline. It dogs us every year. I could see this guy doing a bigtime upgrade at oline next.

He's gutsy enough to do this.

I'm looking forward to seeing these guys coach. Hope they're good.

He's going to have to do something, whether it's via trade/fa or draft. This line is not looking strong, and while there is potential w/some of the young guys, the overall ceiling is fairly low w/most of them.

I hope not. Because to get a stud OL in the first round thats going to immediately start, we would have to be up in the early parts of the draft, meaning our record this year would be terribad.

No, i hope they address it with a FA stud and a couple mediocre FAs to challenge for starting spots.
    I'm trying//to let go//of maybe//but maybe's just so//very interesting//Oh, what a thing.

Emery fixed our WR woes with 1 FA and followed up with the Jefferys pick in the draft. A nice one-two punch. I would love to see that move for the oline. Then you could keep the very best of our existing oline, and add the two new studs to the mix. Problem solved. Just like he did with the WR's.

Man we've seen one Pre season game and were already talking about the draft? Ha as much as i love draft time/day and the weeks leading up to it with a 500 post mega thread here (it is how I found this awesome community) its time to worry about this year and winning now. My only thought or hope for the draft that is 9 1/2 months away is they we will all be disagreeing on weather to keep or trade the 32nd pick

But to the topic, if we have oline issues yet again then yes i see him being aggressive with OL free agents and aggressive with drafting a long term MLB

I'm always looking ahead. It's not just a football thing. It's just the way I'm wired I think. I'm enjoying what's happening now with the team, but I'm always looking ahead, wondering how we can make the team better - especially now that it looks like we have a GM who can judge talent & isn't afraid to make bold moves to bring in that great talent. Clearly, he couldn't fix all of the leftover Jerry Angelo woes in one off season, so I'm excited (really excited) to ponder about what his next off-season moves might be.

    Yeah, I'm a nut.

It's hard to say, but Tice does not seem like even he thinks the line is up to par. So if they don't gel this season, yes I think the OL will have floated to near the top of Emery's to-do list. My concern is that you don't really fix a LT position in the draft unless you have a high draft pick or you are really good at spotting talent. I'll give Emery the second one, but it just depends on who is left and if he feels the pick is worth it. This year he felt he needed a DE and WR more and by that time, all the OT's he thought might help were gone.

Depends on how the draft goes next year. He still has several positions he needs to work on and a dominant FA LT does not come up often and they cost a fortune. Not sure he will have the cap for it next year based on the contracts he will have to deal with.

Obviously, the option that would work best for everyone is that Webb all of a sudden grows into it.

I don't think we wait until next year to address the O line needs. Knowing Emery as we have this year I see us signing a couple FA cuts in hopes of improving our O line. Unlike JA, Emery will really look for players that might work out. JA answer at this point would have been there aren't any players out there that are better then we have. Every year there seems to be a few players that get cut by one team that make a home for themselfs with there new team, I just hope Emery can find a couple of these players not just for the O line but to help out the Defense.

Yeah JJ - hadn't thought seriously of that possibility, but you are right. I can see him doing that.
