BOURBONNAIS -- Bears nose tackle Stephen Paea has a walking boot supporting his left leg after he sustained an injury midway through Saturday's practice.
Paea watched from the side Sunday as his teammates started individual drills. His status moving forward is unclear, but this could put a damper on what has been a superb camp for the former second-round pick from Oregon State.
Paea surpassed Matt Toeaina on the depth chart for the starting nose tackle spot with a strong start to camp. Although Paea has arthroscopic surgery on his right knee in January, those right knee issues seemed to be behind him.
With Paea out Sunday, Toeaina step back in with the first team.
Paea wasnt the only defensive starter out of action. Linebacker Brian Urlacher remained out with knee soreness. Urlacher refused to put a timetable on his return.
