Most likely, we will have to look to free agency to solve that problem, to someone like Bushrod, who is a free agent at the end of the season. I doubt the Saints are going to be able to re-sign him due to cap reasons. If that's the case, we would have four OTs - Bushrod, Carimi, Webb, and Brown, and we would have the option, then, of simply sticking CWill in at LG where he plays his best ball. Then the question becomes what to do with all of those tackles. Do you keep all four of them for depth purposes, or do you cut one?

But according to that draft mock you posted Dags, Bushrod may not be all that much of a prize either. He may not be much better than what we have. I still have a good feeling about this kid James Brown. That's why I'd rather see them make a swing tackle out of him this year or just push the hell out of Webb with him. By years end who knows, he may show that he can handle LT. Cory Brandon is getting some props at RT too.

Bottom line is that whatever move we make after this one it has to be a good one. No more screwin' around with maybe types. Find a guy who can do the job and do it right.

He is the heart and soul of the D and when he goes that void needs to be filled and I want that done quickly. I personally like Manti Teo out of Notre Dame (he has some problems and comes out of a 3-4, but definately the most talented Sr in my opinion.) Anyway I wanted all your opinions on the subject. Not meaning to commit any Bears blasphemy. But even Neal Anderson was taken before Payton stepped aside.
Samsamsamm you am, I guess I'm one of those who doesn't think we're as bad off at LB as some. I think we got some young talent playing behind the starters that can step up and play. The Bears play a pretty LB friendly defense and all these guys need to do is learn it well. Know it in there sleep.

If they can do that they can play fast and that's the name of the game. They need good range to play it , they need to know how to drop into coverage and they need to tackle well. Urlacher is the only high draft pick we've had playing LB for a decade. He'll be very tough to replace but the others have learned to play the defense and it made them far better LBs than they were rated when they came into the NFL.

But you're right in the regard that it is time we found our next great MLB. I wish we could have taken Kuechly this past draft. He was the best looking prospect for replacing Urlacher I've seen come out of college in a while.

Lol, you guys jacked up a perfectly good topic with O Line prospects/suggestions...

I say yes to the idea of linebacker, if there is someone worth getting... Hard knowing what the needs will really be next season. Right now I'm guessing LB, Saftey, or OT as the likely suspects. Picking at the end of the first, the choice should also be influenced on the depth of the draft because you're not going to get the top prospect.

I actually like the two new signings for LB and hope that Emery does not settle there just because we need camp bodies atm. Try 'um and cycle them. A true captain, another face of the franchise, now that's a tougher order to fill. Draft pick seems most likely, and snagging one late in the first will take luck and time.

I do not know how you replace someone like UB, chances are you won't. So those in charge just have to keep their eye's open and keep improving the bottom end of the roster. Let the cream rise, so to speak. If you do that, then you may be free to cash in when an opportunity does open.

Yep, Soul. We had no shot at him but Kuechley was the man. He's gonna be a damn good MLB and would have been the ideal Urlacher heir-apparent.

Gotta be drafting a LB within the top 2 rounds next year to groom.

As other people say, I feel we're going to pick either a LB or an OT, depending on what's left and the best choice. Hopefully we'll just get the last pick.
One thing is certain that we're gonna draft a LB, I thought Emery would draft one this year, but I guess he saved that draft postion for next year.
But what we're gonna draft in the first two rounds ofcause also depends on the FA I feel. Sounds crazy but I'm really looking forward to F.A. and the draft now that I feel we got a propper GM.
    Oderint dum metuant.

I think that report on Bushrod not being all that good is somewhat misleading, soul. He made the Pro Bowl last year, and you just don't do that without being pretty good at your job. Do take into consideration that the source I used was WalterFootball.com. I only used it because I don't know of any other mock draft sites to go to and because I needed a quick reference on who all will be coming into the draft this year at offensive tackle.

I think that's why we have a dirth of LB's right now, young at that. They are looking to see what they have. Roach might get moved there since he's been learning behind Ulr already.

Tice is who made Tice look bad. Webb has the same abilities now that he had before. Tice has had a few years with him, his abilities, and his work ethics. Tice should better have known what he had in Webb and spoke accordingly. Webb can't magically change to be what Tice wants him to be just because tells the world that he is ok.
