NFL on ESPN mentioned BU having been scoped earlier in year.

Just caught a snippet on tv. Anyone else catch that? I only caught part of it.

Yeah I heard about it earlier today and it didn't surprise me. It all goes back to my immediate reaction when 'the play' happened - when I saw the grotesque , un-natural way that Urlacher's leg BENT on that play, and my first thought was O God, Ooo Shiiit , THATS gonna be bad. Then his reaction lying on the ground.

It wouldn't surprise me either if they've been down-playing the significance of this injury all along . If the doctors looked at it and said " well u really need surgery and ur gonna be out the whole year " .....( yeah f that Lach is thinking ) ... " or we can do a minor op and you nurse it and we hope for the best " ( said with no real confidence ). And ( if that is what really happened ) .. they've known it all along that they've been 'hoping for the best' .

And the old saying is " every player knows he's always 1 play away from a career ending injury ". Only , in this case , they really really mean it .
It's bad enough that he can't even practice but he's gonna be good to go on Sunday ? Does Lach himself seem that confident in the VERY limited interviews he's been giving this week ? This knee gonna last the whole season ?

( course I'm speculating here ; trying to read between the lines and I could be totally wrong ... if so disregard ^^^^^^ )
What should you call any : Fumble , Hold , Interception , Three and out , or Sack ?

    A " F.H.I.T.S " ? or a J'Marcus ?

It was reported that he was scoped twice before this last one a few days ago. So this would have been his 3rd scope in less than a year. Multiple NFL resources confirmed this. Urlacher denied it.

So, I don't know what to think about it. Why would you try to hide the fact you had a couple of surgeries prior to last week?

LINK to the article on NFL.com

Urlacher underwent the first surgery following the conclusion of the 2011 regular season.

CSNChicago.com reported Thursday that Urlacher then had another operation on the knee in the springtime.

Occam's razor: This is BAD. Two surgeries that don't fix it, and a third one they were trying to avoid while keeping the other two out of public sight.

Okay, Roach is our primary back up to Urlacher right? Are their ANY MLBs out there that are better than Roach? In the answer is no, then next question is, are there any LBs out there that are better than who will be replacing Roach while Roach is replacing Urlacher?

My guess is that no matter how many scopes he had, the result will be that he won't be the same Brian Urlacher we are used to seeing play. They say they can shoot him up with pain killers and try drugs to help fight the swelling in the knee (that took him out of training camp).

But reality is that you have an old player, with years of wear and tear and high mileage on his body - that's going to try and play on a gimp leg.

Nothing good is going to come of that, even if he CAN play a few games.
    Go Bears!

Yep, I'm with ya' on this one Henry. The simplest answer is probably the most correct. Nobody from the Bears will confirm those other procedures but they don't have to. The "wait and see" attitude about a contract extension says it all. If he can't play due to pain and stiffness or if the injury robs him of his range then he becomes a completely different ball player and if that's the case it may force major surgery or he decides to retire.

From where I sit this isn't looking good at all at the moment. I guess all we can see is how he responds to playing with it and whether or not it limits him both in his play or in how much the knee will take as the season progresses. I hope he can tough it out because I'd take his leadership and 80%-90% over losing him 100%.

Thanks a lot Major Wright you incredible jag-off you!

Geno Hayes can replace Roach at "Sam" and my guess is that they'll back him with JT Thomas for now. We really need to see DeCicco recover from that groin pull soon in order to see if he's got enough experience to run the defense. If this is nearing the end for Urlacher then as it stands it appears that DeCicco is "on deck" as a possible backup or replacement when Brian can't go.
