We wouldn't get much if anything in trade for either GbPH. Teams wait for guys like that to get cut rather than give up a pick for them. Maybe you could squeeze a 7th out of someone for Bell but I even doubt that.

It should be very interesting to see who we keep, who we cut, and who we try to sneak onto the PS. Clutts is making it real hard to let him go. The guy is a stud blocker and a good ST guy and being the backup LS makes him valuable enough to give him and edge over Unga who would be a better runner and receiver. Unga still has PS eligibility so let's hope he can clear waivers and end up there. I like the idea of having him around as a backup to Bush.

As far as the 3rd RB goes I really don't have a favorite. Bell seems to have the inside track but he's also the most expensive option. Allen looks good as a scat back but Booker made a big splash with that return. The kid has moves and good speed. It's gonna be a tough decision as far as who to keep and somebody is gonna pickup a good back with whoever we let go.

I do agree that we'll probably keep 4 TE's for now. Dollars to donuts somebody gets hurt among the backs and TE's before the season is too far along so what we start with may not be the same as where we'll be after four or five games. At these positions the ones who don't start will play STeams and become bigger injury risks. That's how we lost Kyle Adams last year.

I think we'll keep just 8 lineman. The starting five and then Brown, EWill and either CWill or Rachal as the three reserves. Teams always store a couple of extra OLineman on the PS for practice so there will be a couple of guys there for more depth who we can move up if needed. Possibly Brandon and Henry.

That's the way I see it this AM.

Excellent summary Soul. Thought we would prob keep 4 RB/FB, 9 OL, and only 3 TE but we shall see. It would be good for KAdams if he could block from the H-back spot as well because ERod sure can't yet. He went backwards every time he tried.

I couldn't agree more about Clutts. I like the guy for doing the unheralded stuff well (LS, ST, blocking). I know he adds virtually nothing as an O weapon but this OL is gonna need help and Clutts provides it. Same deal w/ Spaeth who I've begun to appreciate a bit more--nothing on O but he helps the OL.

The results speak for themselves in that 1stQ vs the Skins. There was 6-7 men in blocking/chipping and Cutty & Co. sliced up the 1st team D like butter. We finally have the O weapons and just need the pass pro to hold up.

Exactly. And I might add Rodriguez (and the announcers mentioned this as well) was repeatedly bent back on blocking plays. That will be rare w/Clutts. We need all the push up front we can get.

That Clutts/Bush combo on the goal line is lethal. Absolutely "money in the bank" lethal. This will mean the difference between settling for field goals vs getting touchdowns.

C.Will is coming up for a new contract. Now they won't have to pay him starting oline money. Not at LT. Not at LG.

But Webb got the "treatment" that the Bears wanted. He felt some heat to get it in gear this year because they threatened his job with a good lineman in C.Will. Looks like it worked. Webb has the job locked up (and he always DID have it locked up). They were going with Webb all along.....he's always been Tice's pet project.

C.Will? He got hosed. He'll get tossed aside like a used condom now that they're done with him. He'll get to be the backup tackle. He should be our starting LG. What did he ever do to lose his job there?

I would say that CWill did something to get into Lovie's doghouse, most likely. I don't know how petty Lovie is, but it's possible that because he has ever played a complete season in his four year career with the Bears has made Lovie more than a little dismayed at how this former first round draft pick, who was supposed to be the LT of the future when it became apparent that Orlando Pace was no longer the force at LT that he was in St. Louis, can't stay healthy. I'd say his patience might have run out and that he's looking to put someone who is more reliable from a health perspective in at the position.

The more I think about it the more I believe I was right the first time. It's not that CWill isn't good enough to start, he is. But right now they need and experienced vet at swing OT so we don't end up with another disaster like we did last year when Carimi got hurt.

CWill is the first and only choice as far as a guy who fits that job description and right now I think they see him as being more valuable as a utility lineman who could fill in at OT or OG than they do as a starter. Who knows? Before the season is over he may well be starting somewhere on that line again.

I don't know that CWill will ever be seen as a top NFL lineman. His real strength is in his versatility and for that reason alone we should probably keep him. They'll see how he does this year and then decide how to deal with him after the year is over. If he plays well they may offer him an extension and if not he hits FA but with his injury history and his lack of top LT play he won't be getting any huge offers. JMO
