I couldn't imagine letting these guys ref regular season games. They (seriously) look worse than the high school refs around here in our area.
Blown calls, missed calls, lack of control of the game. It would be pretty sad to unleash these buffoons on the NFL for regular season games.

This game of chicken will end a week before the reg season starts . There's too much on the line for both sides , for them not to come to a compromise.

I gotta believe that too. The NFL's rep is on the line come RS and putting such a clownish product out there wouldn't be good for business. Fans and media types will erupt with the penalty calling we have seen this ps. There were at least 3 blown -- not borderline -- BLOWN calls that showed the refs didn't even have a grasp on basic rules. They're either going to patch things up with the NFLRA or face the very real possibility of a high profile game (say, on one of their marquee games on Thursday nights perhaps? or their game of the week?) being decided by a horrible call and facing the massive fan and media backlash that will ensue. The NFLRA doesn't have perfect refs by any means, but I rarely see them make the utterly stupefying mistakes these replacements are making. If you can't even get the BASIC calls right, how are you going to even think of making rulings on the more complex stuff?

That was my biggest gripe last night. OK you might miss a call but for God's sake learn the damn rules. That PI call against Tillman was ludicrous. How can you interfere with a guy who is out of bounds to begin with trying catch up with a ball that was thrown out of bounds and should have been determined to be uncatchable? COME ON MAN!
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

What he said. No one is complaining too loudly in PS but there's been a slew of absolutely horrible calls across the NFL so far. As we have said, even a lack of knowledge of rules has been involved, not just a "close judgment call". There must be some back channel communications going on between teams and their respective FOs/ownership. As in...this shit is no big deal now but when it comes to fer realz time, this is going to damage the NFL's cache, brand, and public rep...so resolve this and don't kill the golden goose.
