Yeah, but CW is better than both and so far doesn't look like he will be in competition for it. If he has a real shot at LT, fine, but if he is competing just to push JW, then Tice needs to get his head out of his ass and stop the farce and put JW back at LG and run with it.

I truthfully don't understand why we don't install CWill at LG and then with the depth we have at the OG position, move him to LT if Webb falters. It makes no sense keeping the guy who, for the better part of two years, has been your best offensive lineman by a far cry over the others, on the bench.

But who you gonna put at swing OT unless it's Brown and he may have looked OK in camp but he's far from ready for prime time yet. What you say makes sense but I'm thinking they don't want to have to shift players around this year like they did last if there's a key injury.

CWill can play either OT spot and potentially either OG spot so he provides insurance as long as he stays in reserve. Once he starts we lose that. Webb goes down and you end up with two new starters on the left side one being CWill at LT where if he's been playing LG he will have had no reps at. Same thing happens if Carimi goes down. CWill to RT and Rachal or Spencer to LG.

Any way you look at it as long as CWill stays in reserve only one spot gets changed because of injury or if Webb fails to cut it. I'd rather they pushed the hell our of Brown but so far Tice doesn't seem to trust him enough with that swing OT spot and maybe he's right.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

I understand the thought process. However, that means you've agreed to having a throughfare in the middle of your first line in order to have a good backup - in fact a better backup than the who is playing on the first team.

I wouldn't go that route. I would plug in my best LG and hope there are no injuries. If there are, then you adjust as best you can. I just think the 5 starters need to be your best five and you let them gel.

You obviously have to plan for injuries, but I just wouldn't implement that plan as my injury contingency plan -- but that's just me.

If this year is anything like the past couple of years don't look for that to happen anytime soon.

After thinking about this, maybe they DO know the starting lineup, but want Webb to continue to feel the heat of competition for as long as possible. Certainly after this Giants game, there is nothing to hide. This will be the last significant playing time for the starters. The 4th pre-season game is usually just a cameo appearance by the starters.

Does anyone know who the starting LT & LG are for this Giants game? That may answer our question right there. I'd think the LT and LG guys playing with the 1's in the Giants game ARE our starters for the 2012 season.
    Trestman - Kromer - Tucker - DeCamillis

I'm looking forward to seeing these guys coach. Hope they're good.

I believe Tice stated that Webb & Rachal would "start" with the CW-Spencer duo rotating in with the 1s.

With Spencer and Rachal -- no matter who wins, we still lose.
