Oh, I don't argue that they play a role and become good offensive minds.... but on a team how much of a difference does a QB coach actually make?

Benj, w/this current set up I think Bates has more say in what and how the Passing game is being developed. Under Martz QBC probably had little to do with it, but w/Tice and Bates I think he will have a large impact.

Well there ya' go. We need to get you replays of that first drive. A 41 yard bomb to Marshall and a 20 yarder to the the goaline and bam, Bush piles in from there. That is not your typical Bears opening series Benji.
Tice may be the OC but Jeremy Bates is the one whose sculpting this passing game with Marshall and Cutler as the mainstays.

Ah me (sigh). You want us to draw you a picture?
Here's a happy face for you now smile and stop being so damn arbitrary. How many of us do you need to tell "it's so" before you believe it. ![4 13 13[1]](/images/smilies/Smilie/4_13_13[1].gif)
I don't know Benji quantifying it can be done a lot of different ways; completition percentage, yardage gained total, per attempt, per completion, TD ratio, number of passing TD's, interception ratio, number of picks, red zone scoring percentage, etc, etc, etc,.
If Cutler has a better year this year in all regards than last then I'd say Bates contributed more to that success than Martz ever did and Martz was a legendary developer of QB's, emphasis on WAS!
Bates is and will continue to make a difference. You'll just have to trust that.

Martz was a legendary fuck up set to music, that's what he was. He nearly destroyed Cutler's career by refusing to play to what little strengths this team had at the time. It looks like the "novel" approach to coaching the offense Tice is taking is going to help us catch to the rest of the league and hopefully elevate the level of play exponentially.
