Move the chains with first downs, or even get a pass popped out to him. You especially saw this in the playoff run in '85 and the Super Bowl.
It could be similar today with Clutts. And in the red zone, it's mighty nice to have a 260 pound (gifted) FB blocking for a 245 pound Bush. That's one heck of a weapon. And if teams key on that at the goal line we can just dink a pass to our tall WR's now, or 6'7" Davis.
I think it can, too, JABF99. While the split backs set is no longer in style (we used this formation under Martz, but only occasionally on passing downs), you could style run Clutts or Unga out of the I or offset-I and pick up critical yards. Basically, what I'm want is a shifty back (Forte) combined with power (Bush/Unga/Clutts) as our battering ram. This is one of the reasons why I used to love watching Ron Dayne when he was playing football at Wisconsin. He was a big 260 pound battering with deceptive speed who could block. I would love to get a big back who could run down hill on opposing defenders and make it perilous on those defenses to take him on from the side or from the front. They would dread tackling him.

Your pay got cut, more taxes, so he could hand out more. j/k i wont start poliDICKS up. ok just alittle, DEMS grab the right ankle, REPS grab the left ankle. Either way your bent over and you know whats cumming next.

Okay, Mr. Sandusky, do I really want to hear this?

I hope they use Clutts a bit like that too. Hell, at least give the fella a rushing attempt here and there. I forgot that the Bell contract was basically extra insurance during the Forte contract situation.

I know that it's unrealistic to rush for over 200 yards per game, but I think we can get to 175 or so like the Raiders have been doing in recent years. If we do that, we will own the line of scrimmage. To do that, we must run the fullbacks at least 10-12 times per game. In my opinion, we should run the ball more than we pass. But that's just me liking old fashioned Big Ten-style of football, much like Wisconsin operates today.

Good to hear. I liked Bell, but he's got buttery hands and you cannot have that as a rb. I liked Allen far more as a change of pace back behind the bigger Forte/Bush. Same w/Booker. It's a shame he thinks he can start for a team, he'll make a very high risk backup running back for some team desperate for a rb(and they are out there), I could see him ending up in Det.
I don't know why the team keeps teasing Unga like he has a chance to make this team. they have always brought in guys to do the job he should be capapble of doing(short yardage/goal line). And clutt's ability on ST's is going ot make it very hard for Unga to ever surpass him.

Hey I would settle for half of that and it would be a very nice added dimension. Plus I think it will help the ol' goal-line punch that has been lacking previously.

I think that if Clutts wins the job, he needs to be fed the football 10-12 times per game. If he can give us 30-40 rushing yards per game out of that, I'll be happy. I want him to be our Ron Dayne-like battering ram like the way Wisconsin used to use him in college. He's as big as Dayne, and I'm sure that he's a better blocker than Dayne ever was. If we can give Forte 25 touches per game, about 10-12 touches for Bush, and about 10-12 for Clutts or Unga, whichever one of the two wins the final spot on the roster, then we will have a killer rushing attack capable of leading the league in that catagory. The key to us winning the NFC North this year is on the ground, not through the air. Our pass protection is a major weakness, but to the contrary, run blocking is very, very good. We need to use this strength to our advantage, as it will also prove advantageous when the cold weather comes around.
