Their heads weren't in it their bodies weren't in it who the hell knows but at least jay didn't get sacked nine times in one half so they've got that going for them. Just not a good game but it was 17-10 when the starters left playing against the SB Champs so they were still in the game.
This is what I've been saying for like over an hour, soul. We were in the game even when we were down 17-7. If it hadn't been for that blocked punt, we most likely would have gone into halftime only down 10-7. This was a very low scoring ball between two teams with very good defenses. Our game plan in the first half was to limit the Giants rushing attack to minimal gains. Well, with the exception of the two big runs out of the rookie Wilson, we did just that. We didn't tackle well when he ran the ball, but outside of his carries, the running game of the Giants didn't have much effect on us other than ultimately leading to their first field goal. This is the best front seven in the NFL right now with regards to applying pressure on the passer. I don't think there is any shame to struggling a bit against a team that solid in that area of the game.

I know they all can play better - with the exception of the oline. They just don't look very talented. They look like what they are, a mish-mash cobbled together in hopes we can "get by" until Emery can fix this thing. It sure looked like "baling wire & twine" tonight. Butt ugly.
Like I've been saying all along that line can't get by just on it's talent brother. They need coordination right now a hell of a lot more than they need competition. They need to play together so Tice needs to get his 5 lined up.

This crazy fuckin' Chinese Merry-go-fucking-Round Fire Fucking Drill of a Musical Fucking Chairs Fucking Game for lineman shit is about as cockamamie of an idea as he's had so far. It needs to end and he needs to get his 5 best out there and working together. It's all about coordination when you lack talent so get it done. He's being as bullheaded about that line as Martz was about his passing game.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

Yes he does. This can't go on much longer. We've actually taken a step back this preseason over what the offensive line was like last season at this time, despite the fact that Tice is not running an offense predicated on the seven-step drop. We cannot afford to go back to the way we were in 2010 because we would then be wasting all that money on those talented skill players only to have them not be able to use their skills to their fullest potential. Cutler needs to have time, and I just don't see that happening right now. Unless we run the ball sixty percent of the time, our offense is going to be in trouble more often than it should be. The only thing good about our offensive line, so long as they have Chris Williams in at LG, is that it generally run blocks well. That didn't happen tonight until the third quarter, when Forte started raking off a few decent carries judging strictly from the box score.

When I started watching, the game was about 9 min in. The score was still 0-0, even without #54 it seemed the defense was holding it's own. On the Bears first scoring drive Jay looked incredible. For whatever reason, the bears kept trying to run forte up the gut, even after a total lack of success. The failings that happened later in the game can be assisted (not cured) with scheme. But it's the 3rd week of the preseason... the bears still have to evaluate talent (or the lack thereof). There is NO WAY IN HELL that ANY coach in the NFL is putting all his cards on the table this early. It would make it too much easier for opposing defenses to reveal too much of the offense.

It's only the 3rd week of preseason, while I understand the concern about the o-line, I still believe they will get better.

FINALLY!!! Someone who agrees with me!!! I've been trying to get across to people for the past few hours that all is not lost, and that we are still going to be a solid team this season. I think we can still win the NFC North, but we will have to coach these guys up and game plan accordingly in order to make all of these things work.

I think Forte even got like 39 yards on 10 carries, which is just a hair shy of 4.0 yards a carry. That's not that bad against a defense like the New York Giants.
    Yeah....against their scrubs.

Lest we forget, Forte was 7 carries for THREE YARDS going into the half.

No matter how you try to sugar coat it, this game showed how pathetic our OL is. We have all the weapons to be a potent offense, but they remain behind lock and key, unloaded with the safeties on, all thanks to our magnanimous OL.

4th is right, it is pre season. Lovie never reveals his hand in pre season. When things matter, that is when Lovie takes charge and really cares the games really matter.

Didn't we look like crap the 3rd game of pre season in 2006? How did that turn out?

Didn't we look like crap the 3rd game of pre season in 2011? I would say that worked out pretty well until everyone that mattered got injured?

I think Lovie purposely holds back in the 3rd pre season game (the one that "matters")

If someone wants to take a look at the other seven 3rd pre season games to verify this, be my guest

Exactly. I'm all for being "positive" but also, we need to be objective and truthful too. In pre-season the ending scores are meaningless. Who cares if our 2nd and 3rd string players beat their 2nd and 3rd stringers? It's all about how we execute against STARTERS.

We won't win games in the regular season, by having our scrubs beat scrubs. People have to get that straight in their heads. It's all about how good of a starting lineup we will put on the field against opponents starting lineup.

NY's starters imposed their will on us. They did anything they wanted. Anytime they wanted. And our starters rolled over and let them have their way. It was men against boys. And I defy anyone to OBJECTIVELY make a case otherwise.

    We flat stunk.
