Bears’ starting offense struggles against Giants; backups lead rally

At least Jay Cutler survived the first half Friday night.

Otherwise, the Bears’ starting offense failed to build on the momentum generated against the Washington Redskins as they struggled against the defending Super Bowl-champion New York Giants at MetLife Stadium.

“We just looked off,” said Cutler, who completed 7 of 17 passes for 72 yards in the first half, when the Giants’ starting defense was on the field. “Our communication was lacking. We missed some stuff we should have hit. We left a few plays out there.”

Yeah, I was upset about Bennett not catching that ball for a touchdown, and WTH was up with the running game? The Online, needs go to get it together...if they will let the line stay like it was last season, then we would of been better? But hell, I'm not Rice, so we will see....

What I take away is that the bears 1st string had the opportunities, but failed in the execution. Jeffery getting the ball knocked loose, Bennett dropping the ball, both happening in close proximity to the end zone. Those 2 plays are the difference between "the bears offense couldn't get anything started" and "the bears used the passing game to burn a defense that was going after the backfield".

Jeffery is a 2nd rd pick, going up against some the best in the league. Bennett rarely drops anything, and I'd rather that happens in the preseason than the regular (or post) season.

It is only the 3rd game of preseason, evaluations are still ongoing, the bears will get better. When the bears do, our opponents will be wishing they were playing someone else.
