Would it be good to work our oline all 4 quarters next game?
If Tice can decide on a final oline depth chart, then maybe it would be advantageous to give them a lot of extra playing time in this final PS game. I realize this isn't done, and the 4th pre-season game is usually a cameo appearance by the starters. But maybe it would give the starting oline extra reps together.
And (I'm not trying to be funny here) if one would get injured (and I hope not) but there's not that much difference between the starters and the #2's.
What do you think?

Another idea for the LT position. In the old days, I'm told that if a pirate ship captain needed another sailor, they'd just waylay some guy in a bar (or slip a mickey in his drink), and that poor sap would wake up and realize he was on a pirate ship out to sea.
I wonder if we could do a version of that and nab a "real" LT? You'd have to be sneaky about it. And the poor sap would crap if he "woke up" and realized he was a part of this sorry 2012 Bears oline (that's worse than finding yourself out to sea on a pirate ship).
p.s. Which LT should we go after? Do you think Tice would do the "mickey" thing? Or would Emery be better. Somehow I can't picture Lovie knocking a guy over the head in a bar like this.

Sadly no this next game is all about figuring the depth chart at the bottom, and keeping your starters healthy. The only thing worse then this OL, is the backup OL; and if one ofthe starters goes down we are outright screwed.

Name the line.
Including CW @ LG.
Play the starters on OL the entire 1st half.
Play Webb & CWill the first 3 Qs.
Last chance for "game simulation" reps and the left side needs it. Injury risk? A chance you have to take at this point.

I would think 3 quarters of work with one of them "open auditions" where everyone rotates to see if there is ANY type of viability anywhere else. Play Campbell a bunch run no back sets w/no chipping and force these guys to get smarter or at least minimize mistakes.

I really don't worry about injuries because the starters are bottom-feeders already. We're screwed either way. If they play or if they do get injured. Next man up. He can't be much worse than the starters IMHO. Just reach down in the toilet and bring up another stinky one.
A dud for another dud.

Naw. Set the starting 5 this week and let them play the first half. Play the second 5 in the 3rd Q and give those "on the bubble" some snaps in the 4th Q to see who gets a PS invite if they clear waivers.
No matter what we do now this is gonna be just like last year when it took four or five regular season games for the blocking to tighten up. Work the hell out of them in practice and use the game next week to help them get timing and assignments down and let it go. It's gonna take a bit before these guys start playing as a unit and I don't think you can do all that much to speed the process beyond this.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

If their was a point, i would say yes. however, you could make Garza, Spencer and Webb practice 24/7 for the next two weeks and they would still be Graza, Spencer and Webb. The problem is lack of talent rather than lack of reps.

I believe the football IQ of the Webb's and the Rachal's can be improved upon w/reps and putting them in situations where the reps could help their decision making skills or the reaction time in certain situations.

Don't say that too loud here Bill. A number of the guys on this board feel like our oline is fine. That the oline was OK even though we rushed for less than 1 yard per carry against the starting defense last night.
People are saying "it's just pre-season" so don't worry. We have 16 days to fix this oline.
But, I'm worried. Real worried.
