Charlie Peprah draws interest from Chicago Bears, report says

The Chicago Bears are weighing the possibility of signing free-agent safety Charlie Peprah, a league source told the Chicago Tribune.
The Bears could be in the market for additional help at safety after Chris Conte (shoulder) and Brandon Hardin (neck) were injured in the Bears' 33-31 win against the Washington Redskins last Saturday.
In the Bears' 20-17 win Friday over the New York Giants, Eli Manning completed 17 of 21 passes for 148 yards against Chicago's secondary
Peprah was a regular starter for the Green Bay Packers for the last two seasons. The 29-year-old safety had a career-high 94 tackles and five interceptions last season.
The Packers released Peprah after he failed a physical on the first day of training camp. The Bears plan to examine Peprah's knee to determine the effects of an earlier arthroscopic surgery, the Tribune reported.

Technically, he was never a "starter". He was a backup player forced to play because of injuries. Besides he's an ex-cheesehead who failed a physical. Next!

I think any of the better players won't be released til final cuts. Personally, that's when I'd try to make a play for any other players. I think that is also why we wanted to bring down Bell's salary. I think we may make a move or two there.

Let's hope a move for a marginally competent vet swing OT is in the cards so CWill can go back to his best position at LG where we just happen to be struggling right now. We need that much more than a 5th safety...unless of course they're totally lying to us again about the severity of Conte's shoulder like they have with Urlacher's knee or Hardin's neck.
