I agree. Exactly the same points I have been trying to make.

With our first regular season game about 9 days away, we've wasted a lot of time setting the line for the year. They could have had the 2012 starting lineup practicing this entire off-season, training camp and pre-season games -- as a unit together. Building on the 2011 experience, in their same positions for another year.

Instead we're still farting around with this at the 11th hour before our games start counting for real. As if the oline wasn't crappy enough to begin with, Tice pulls this "competition" thing. Don't kid your self. Tice has known these player's ability all along (if he didn't, then he's a half wit coach). Why screw around like this?

No wonder we couldn't even run for 1 yard per carry last Friday night. Bunch of bozo's out there trying to run block.

Based on his comments I'd say no he hasn't decided on his "five best" because he was talking like the competition on the left side was still on. Oh well......it's his offense and his butt in a sling if that line can't block productively enough to get the offense running and passing like it should.

Forte can make plays if he gets some room to accelerate or make a move on a LB or Safety but he's not gonna run through DEs and DTs in his own backfield. The line play is too tentative right now. They're not coming off the ball with any explosion and moving their guy. They're the ones being controlled and shoved aside. That's coming from the hesitancy caused by not playing as a unit and not knowing what the guy next to you is gonna do.

I'm not dismissing this completely , but if 5 guys who have been playing fb for prob about 10 yrs try and tell me " i'm losing my 1-on-1 battle because of the guy next to me " ...... here's my answer " pppfffttt ".

These guys didn't just fall out of a turnip truck .
What should you call any : Fumble , Hold , Interception , Three and out , or Sack ?

    A " F.H.I.T.S " ? or a J'Marcus ?

Which is why he isn't focusing on it.

    Which is why it sucked.
There isn't much doubt he was focusing on pass pro in practice...and run blocking has suffered as a result. Like trying to plug 2 holes in the dyke with only one finger.

I don't have a problem with Tice woking of the pass blocking more the the run blocking. Keeping Cutler upright and sack free has to be the number one priority of our O line. There are a ton of plays that can off set the O line play in the running game, but if your QBs ass is alway on the ground your passing game is going nowhere.

This is one reason why I got so crazy angry after the game last Friday. It was like men (Giants) against boys (Bears olinemen). They "handled" our guys like they were rag dolls. And I asked myself HOW could they do that against the big 320 pound linemen that Tice has populated our oline with? It looked effortless on the part of the Giants. Just tossing our guys.

    It was revolting to watch.

p.s. I did go back and watch the game again (emotionally I will be scarred for life after re-watching that crap oline again against the Giants). Anyone who claims that we looked "decent" pass blocking OR run blocking .....well....we'll just have to agree to disagree on that). Maybe I put the bar too high on what I expect a "decent" oline to look like. Seriously, maybe I do. But that oline was butt-ugly.
