With younger, healthier guys like Rodriguez and Adams to fill that HBack or "Move TE" role I really don't see where Cooley could do us much good. With Davis and Spaeth also in the mix we've got four TE's now and I think if we intend to keep Clutts, and I hope we do, then one of them needs to go already. So why add another?

I'm not too worried about Davis's lack or productivity so far. We already know what he can do when the field gets short and they bring him into play. He's a proven scorer and that won't change. With a new offense to install and the competition between Adams and Rodriguez I think they just spent more time working on those parts of the passing game.

Davis is still the best all around TE on the team and once the offense settles into it's routine and the game plans are drawn up I think his contributions both as a blocker and a receiver will be there. He was a lock to make the team so they just went a different route in preseason. At least that's my take on it.
