I sure hope Melton keeps motivated. With him and Pep wreaking havoc, that'll go a long way.

Atlanta has a line made up of PS level guys? Not sure I buy that but that's in the past anyway.

I'm always high on guys with "tools" and he has those. The kid has tremendous upper body strength to go along with the burst and leg drive of a power RB which is what he was early in his college career.

He needs Marinelli to teach him how to play under control. He's so quick with his first step that he can run himself out of plays and when he stopped doing that he started standing up and let guys get under his pads and he lost leverage.

I think that's when Lovie kicked him in his ass and told him to just play with intensity and get into the backfield and disrupt. The rest will take care of tacking the guys you miss. The name of the game for a 3t DT is to make his plays behind the LOS, not at the LOS. He's your best inside rusher and TFL guys and that's what they need to keep him focused on doing well.

Soul, it was an exageration, but the interior of their line was back up's, and I think at least one was 3rd on the depth chart. That OL was rittled w/injs. so taking that game out, he had 2 sacks in 14 games. Marc Anderson had all the tools also, so did Benson, so does Webb, so do a lot of guys that don't pan out. Just b/c he has the tools doesn't mean anything..and some guys w/no tools(McClellin sometimes pan out also). But they have to prove it just as much as the guys w/tools do.

I'm not saying anything other then he has to actually show his ability on the field before he starts talking about being the man. He hasn't yet. He disappeared after week 1 against backups.

I just want to see Melton improve from week to week esp. run D. Just a bit frustrating to see a former fullback having trouble diagnosing running plays. He can improve his sack totals but I'd also like him to give the qb happy feet and disrupt the pocket more. I'm hoping alternating Paea at 3tech will motivate him.

Now I can use the saying "to be the man you've got to beat the man".

All he said was the he WANTS to be the man not that he IS the man. The words "I AM" do not appear anywhere in his quote.

“I always grade myself very hard and I want to be consistent, and at times last year I wasn’t,” Melton said. “I’m trying to be more consistent and really be the man for the defense.”

Geez, like mo was saying, aren't people reading these articles before jumping in with opinions that don't even relate to what was actually said or posted?
