Maybe they're hoping to bring him back after he heals, avoiding IR and being able to use him this year?

It's much like with Hardin. Obviously his neck injury was more than originally let on. Probably showed some ligamentous or disc problem on MRI. Who knows he could have suffered a concussion too. Basically, neither was worth a roster spot since the first half of their season's were lost at a minimum.
Yeppers. I thought they might at least put DeCicco on IR but chances are once he's healthy again they may be able to offer him a deal and bring him back in 2013. Less expensive to make an injury settlement and start from scratch. Bad break for him. He's worked hard since he got here.

I'd say that's as good a guess as any gg. They cut a few of the other WRs and may not want to use the the top five much so he's a body. Bring a guy like Summers back and show case him and he may get picked up by somebody when they'd rather he slid by unnoticed and maybe onto the PS.

I remember reading an article a while back about how Dom DeCicco was gonna take over Urlacher's spot in a few years. Was that ever wrong! I like him and believe he's got potential. Now the Bears will probably also be checking the waiver wire for released veteran MLBs (Vilma, Stewart Bradley or D.J. Williams maybe?)

I'd be pumped if we signed Stewart Bradley. If he stays injury free he'd be a great player for us.

Yeah, Bradley would be nice. When the Eagles cut him last season I was hoping JA would go after him.

I don't that it said he WAS gonna take over as much as it implied that he was being groomed for it, and he obviously was lb. That kid came a long way from being an UDFA SS from Pitt to being the second leading STeams tackler in 2011 to leading the defense at MLB in the OTAs in June before he was injured. He was on a track to start somewhere eventually.

These injuries must have been a real heart breaker for him. The groin pull was serious enough with just that but if, as MP said, he also had a sports hernia that would require surgery he wouldn't have played this year anyway. If you remember Hilly had a sports hernia that cost him quite a bit of playing time before his concussions forced him out.

Tough break but in the NFL time waits for no one. He may be back next year. You never know.

With a name like that this kid will never make it with the Bears. That's a New England Patriots type of name or a San Diego Chargers type of name. That's an AFC name, not an NFCN type of name.

Unless of course it's with the Vikes.

Like you, Soul, I really liked DD. thought he had come a long way and hoped he would help us a lot this year on ST and maybe D too. I hope he rehabs well and maybe we can re-sign him for next year?

    What a shame...bummer
