Chicago Bears Re-Sign WR Terriun Crump, Waive LB Dom DeCicco

    Interesting

The Chicago Bears made a minor roster switch on Wednesday afternoon heading into their final preseason game, as the team re-signed wide receiver Terriun Crump to take the place of recently waived linebacker Dom DeCicco according to the team's official Twitter account.

The 23-year-old Crump was not selected in April's 2012 NFL Draft, but quickly signed on with the Bears as an undrafted free agent and appeared to impress coaches in camp on numerous occasions. Although he was waived from the roster on Aug. 26 during the most recent round of cuts, the decision to release DeCicco due to a nagging injury ultimately opened up another roster spot.

A second-year linebacker from Pittsburgh, DeCicco recorded 17 special teams tackles as a rookie last season for Lovie Smith's defense. But after suffering a serious groin injury in Chicago's preseason game against the Broncos, DeCicco was never able to recover quick enough to make a dent in the competition for the team's linebacker spots.

    Trestman - Kromer - Tucker - DeCamillis

I'm looking forward to seeing these guys coach. Hope they're good.

Why bring in another WR when we're getting ready to cut WR's? Is this guy that good? I think we still have 9 WR's on our roster (including this new guy).

.....I'll bet he's another one of those ST's aces. Right?

Implies that DeC is more severely injured than just a muscle pull. He apparently has a sports hernia and will need surgery. Out for 8 weeks minimum. Perhaps it implies that Costanzo could fill in at MLB some if needed too.

It's much like with Hardin. Obviously his neck injury was more than originally let on. Probably showed some ligamentous or disc problem on MRI. Who knows he could have suffered a concussion too. Basically, neither was worth a roster spot since the first half of their season's were lost at a minimum.

I was wondering that too. Why Crump??? Is this a way of getting him to the PS? Just asking...

Yes, it really is a curious move.

You have a guy that you cut in the first cuts. Which probably means that he isn't going to make the next cut of about 20 more players. I just can't believe that we would have cut a guy in the first cut that we really wanted to be on the 53 man roster. And we have to go to 53 in just two days.

Just a strange move. I don't know why you bother to do this unless you all of a sudden decide the guy you cut is better than the next 20 you are about to cut.

Why put him on the roster for two days?

My only guess at any logic behind this is they need someone to fill the spot in the final preseason game.

We better not lose Sanz. I already have him at 100 on everything on Madden. I just made an amazing fake punt/pass from Sanz who ran 20+ yards to catch his own pass, but got an unnecessary roughness penalty caused against him when he pulled his helmet off, and threw it into the stanz.
