and i'm in the same row as jabf, mp or soul. thank you. I want to see what the HB's do in games before I judge Clutt's worth.

I agree. My point is that this is yet one more symptom of the disease. It's been a long time since I've watched a Bear and thought he was one heck of a blocker. I mean, a great blocker. Man, I'd watch Clutts and it just warmed my soul to see a guy in Bears uniform that could excel at blocking. Thought I'd died and gone to heaven when I watched him truck into the end zone in front of Bush for that TD. It was sweet.
Will the world end because we cut him? No. But Lovie's world is going to end if we are bottom feeders this year due to continued oline woes. Big broom will sweep him out of here. And Tice will be bounced out too. Him and his pixie dust.

I'm looking forward to seeing these guys coach. Hope they're good.

Reports are now Bears traded Clutts to Houston for a CB Sherrick McMannis.
zach Z, biggs and 670 the score all tweeting/reporting this.

Thought for sure we'd be getting a bus load of safeties (you can never have enough of them you know)
Scouting report:
McManis is a pretty good player in a lot of different areas but never really stands out in any one. He has good size for the position but lacks great top-end speed. He can be quick in transition but looks a little stiff in the hips when trying to turn and run with defenders. He is not real aggressive or physical in run support and does not play up to his size when competing for the ball in a crowd. He still needs work on route recognition and reading the quarterbacks eyes from off coverage.

Benji, I think you miss the point as far as Clutts true value as a blocker. The type of blocks linemen make are not the same ones as a lead blocker makes. Most of his will would come at the second level where he takes out the LB or Safety or CB who moves up to fill a gap that's been created when the linemen does his job.
At 260lbs he's a huge mismatch for 200-240lbs guys to handle and when he puts someone in his sights he doesn't miss. I also think he'd be a more effective blocker in the backfield either picking up a blitz or chipping on a DE giving Webb help than lining up another TE next to Webb.
Tice plan appears to be using his HBacks to handle that role yet neither Adams or Rodriguez are anywhere near as good at blocking as Clutts is and Spaeth and Davis aren't built for backfield work either. Plain and simple. Keeping Kyle Adams over Clutts was a big mistake and he showed as much last night when he made some nice catches coming from his FB spot. Adams and Rodriguez are pretty much the same type of player Clutts isn't but what he is is something the Bears don't have in anyone else and they'll miss that.
It was, IMHO, a foolish move to let him go. He was one of the best pure "football players" on the team.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.
Honey Badger Don't Care. Honey Badger Don't Give a Shit.
There was an article that vividly pointed out the difference in adjusting from a blocking TE to a FB type of block. The angles, the entry, something that took a while to develop. Putting Adams or Rodriguez back there is the equivalent of having Olsen block. What you'll see is weak, bent back, or complete whiff blocking.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.
Restore the roar!

Tice is the smart one. Shrewd as a fox. He understands that the last thing you need is blocking. All that matters are t-shirt sales, social media presence & Webb Nation.
But an oline that can block well? Ha. Laughable. Blocking and tackling are SO passe. Old school stuff.
