Clutts was one of my favorite Bears, the guy made huge holes for Forte last year and had many key blocks. I think we notice his departure.

Well that would keep our arrogant dumbfuck OC string intact three years running wouldn't it?
What I'm struggling with is how anyone could miss the fact that Tyler Clutts is a far better "football player" and a more polished blocker than most anyone else I've seen on the entire team including the lineman. So when blocking, or lack thereof, is one of the major issues that needs to be resolved exactly how does letting your top blocker go accomplish that?
It's a stupid move. They can make all the rationalizations and excuses they want but there isn't any other way to look at it. It's really almost too simple. You don't cut good football players who can do what others on your team can't.
Once again we end up with an OC who likes to outsmart himself.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

Agreed Ric, he is and I'm the one who posted that. But how about when you flank him out or send him out on a pass route. Could we use a guy like Clutts to pick up a blitz or help Webb by chipping on the DE. Forte isn't our only back. Could Michael Bush use a lead blocker on a tough 3rd and two or down on the goaline where Clutts could blow up a LB or Safety filling a gap?
Matt Forte needs room to free lance his runs. He's more of a long strider and cut back style runner so a lead back isn't essential to his style of running. Bush not so much and Booker really benefited by having him blocking for him last night. The minute they took Clutts out the dominance we'd been showing running the ball disappeared.
You also have to consider Clutts ability to pass block and protect Cutler. This team needs better blocking so how getting rid of one of the best on the team solves that problem needs an explanation as far as I'm concerned. This isn't JUST about Matt Forte.

I fucking love how we went from thinking Tice would save this group to oh we cut a FB that hardly played last year to oh he doesn't know what the hell he's thinking.
Reallity check, Clutts didn't play every down. He wasn't the reason the O was good last year, nor will he be a reason the O was good this year.
I liked Clutts, I wanted us to keep him; but the over reasction of cutting Clutts is getting to be a bit embarassing. Better hurry up and resign McCown and Allen b/c apparently all our Qb's and RB's are gonna get hurt b/c Clutts is no longer on the team. Might as well trade away Marshal and Jeffery b/c they won't matter b/c Clutts won't be back there blocking for Cutler.....Holy crap get a hold of yourselves!

I'm going to calm down now and forget about it. It's done and over. It's not like this is the first time I've disagreed with a Bears move. It won't be the last.
I am happy about one thing. At least we GOT something for Clutts. And this particular CB sounds like he has a lot of upside, PLUS he's more of a Tillman-type. With Peanut getting older now, it makes sense to try and bring a guy like this in.
So, maybe Clutts did us one last favor here. I hate to see us get rid of him, but if some good comes out of this, then all is not lost.
Trestman - Kromer - Tucker - DeCamillis
I'm looking forward to seeing these guys coach. Hope they're good.

Well after watching the CB play by Frey last night we sure as hell could use one. Not much to see here folks. Move along now, move along.
