If ERod can provide good short yardage & blitz pickup blocking, than great. Trouble is (#1), he didn't show that yet in PS and in fact showed quite the opposite. Expecting improvement hopefully of course. Trouble is (#2), that Clutts wasn't really in roster spot competition with ER who we all knew already on the team primarily as a receiving weapon. TC was in competition against KA who's not nearly the same blocker and isn't going to have many balls thrown to him anyway. KA was also a good and likely PS candidate and we all knew TC would never have cleared waivers (hence his trade value otherwise Houston would have just waited to pick him up for free like we did last year). That calculation doesn't even take into account ST where TC > KA, or at least had the edge.
No, it isn't the end of the world and yeah we did "get something" for him and yeah crying over spilled milk is a waste of time. But it was (or appears at this time) a poor personnel move that lessens something we are thin at (blocking) unnecessarily for very uncertain reasons. I hope I am wrong and our HBs give us what TC offered as Tice obviously believes.
I hope it's not just another stupid move to satisfy the OC's egotistical "scheme fit".
