What do you think will constitute a passing grade for the team this year?

What should be considered a "passing grade" for Lovie Smith this year?

1. Win the NFC-N

2. Deep playoff run

3. Super Bowl appearance

4. Or is being 2nd or 3rd in the division "good enough" for you

What would be a failing grade? One where we make a coaching change?

1. Another 3rd place finish in the NFC-N

2. Not having a winning season (another 8-8 or worse)

3. Or would it take us dropping to the bottom of the NFC-N. Bottom-feeders like Detroit used to be.

Passing grade

Need at least a division win, but would fall short of fans expectations. I would say bare minimum is a deep playoff run and hopefully a Super Bowl appearance and win.

Failure.... anything less that a playoff appearance and all of the coaching staff (minus maybe Toub) should be fired.

Passing grade:
Deep playoff run.

Failing grade:
Not making the playoffs.

I really like Lovie Smith as our coach. I hope this is his year. But he's got to learn from past mistakes and get better - just like his team.

The any given sunday side within me agree's with Benji.

Passing grade = Playoffs

The best team does not always win, and I buy into that. Love to see a championship, but the opportunity is the main thing.

Deep playoff run, ie at least 2 wins(or 1 win if you get the bye)

Minimum 10-6 which should get us a Wild Card but 11-5 should lock it up. With this team any less is unacceptable.

Yeah I think failure to make the playoffs would mean the end of the Lovie-era and maybe Tice too (Bates to OC?). Emery is going to want to put his stamp on this team and sweep away some old dust if we flop...and anything less than 10 wins should be considered a flop considering we have a fairly easy schedule this year.

What if we went 10-6 and still missed the Playoffs.

Then it will be interesting to see how Emery reacts.

Ten wins is usually considered pretty decent. But fans want a Super Bowl. Do you fire Lovie after a 10 win season? Probably not. But 10 wins & no playoffs means we lost the Division again to the Packers. Man, I hate that. And if that also meant the Detroit Lions were 2nd place (us 3rd again) that would be tough.
