The funny thing is the chart shows it was San Diego who cut him so I don't know if that's a misprint or what. It could be a contract related thing 99. He's got some starting experience but I don't think he's any better than Webb and he's really not the experienced vet you'd want anyway.
If he was reasonable healthy Ryan Harris would be a guy you'd want to look at but he's damaged goods. The question is can he stay healthy enough to be a backup? I'll have to a little digging about him here. Even living here I don't spend all that much time with Bronco details.

My bad. There is an Anthony Davis with the Chargers. That was the "Anthony Davis" cut. I didn't know about him. I just knew about the Anthony Davis who plays for SF and thought HE was the cut tackle. Big difference.
Sorry for the mistake.

Not your fault. When I posted about Davis and Harris the link for the "cut player" took me to the SF Anthony Davis and that's what I posted. It was the SD Anthony Davis who was cut so that was a mistake in reporting by whoever put the wrong link in the list. Here's the right AD.

I know he's had injury concerns in the past.

Here's one to ponder. Last night I watched Omiyale (yes OUR Omiyale) looking like a complete stud for Seattle - playing LT. Yes, LT.
He played like complete crap for us. But last night he played the 1st half at LT and looked 100 times better than Webb. He was great at BOTH run blocking AND pass protection.
LOL, I had to back up and "replay" to see if I was halucinating. Even checked his number repeatedly to make sure I wasn't getting him mixed up with another LT (he's wearing #65 now). He put on a clinic. I about crapped my pants. How can this be?
So. What's wrong with US that we can't get him to play like that?

Dos not surprise me at all. I used to go on at length about how the only position Omiyale could play was as a backup LT. As a RT, he was awful. LG? Dogcrap. But he proved in Carolina that he could play LT, and he was our LT in 2010 in a system that put quite a bit of pressure on the tackles. Omiyale will make a fine backup LT for Seattle, so long as they never use him at any other position, or start him long term.
But also remember it was preseason. Can you recall when Omiyale looked like a tank in preseason pushing people to the second level as a Bear? Then he returned to form.

That is a GREAT point.
I believe part of our problems stem from flip-flopping players to different positions on the line. Instead of letting them learn ONE position. This is a Lovie Smith philosophy I've always doubted. We draft people who are mediocre at multiple positions, rather than getting the best talent at ONE position, and letting them be studs there.
It's like a surgeon having 1 Swiss Army knife, instead of having specialized surgical instruments. Lovie likes Swiss Army knife type players.
I'm still in shock over the oline flip-flopping this pre-season. We had 4 of our 5 oline positions staffed with enough talent to have a good season. Just let the guys continue to progress and improve at those positions - and solidify as a unit another year. Just focus on the one bad position. Fix that one.
Instead we pull a solid LG, switch a reasonably decent RG to LG (where he now sucks) - and - we STILL have the problem at LT. We definitely took a step BACK, and not forward.
p.s. weneedmorelinemen, you need to get that great avatar loaded from the CBMB that you had. I liked that one. It was a classic.

I'm gonna wait and see on how good Omiyale plays during the season before being too critical of the Bears. OMG usually did ok during the preseason, then went all ohmyfail during the regular season.
Better to cut the dead weight to make room for someone who will actually do the job, even if we have to suffer through worse players first.
Regarding 99's post script (p.s.): If if remember correctly, you need 10 posts in order to be able to upload an avatar.
