    Chicago Bears Announce Practice Squad

The Chicago Bears have announced that running back Harvey Unga, defensive back Isaiah Fey, and running back Armando Allen are now a part of the Bears' practice squad, per a tweet from Chicago Tribune beat writer Vaughn McClure.

Unga is perhaps the most noteworthy of these practice squad players, as he was drafted by Chicago in the 7th round of the 2010 NFL draft after becoming the all time leading rusher at Brigham Young University.

Isaiah Frey was drafted in the 6th round of this year's NFL draft by Chicago as a cornerback. Even though he signed a four-year deal with teh organization, he was waived yesterday.

Armando Allen, an all-purpose back, was a part of Chicago's active roster last winter, as he rushed for 40 yards on 11 carries against the Green Bay Packers in a reserve role in place of injured Matt Forte and Marion Barber.

Other players added to the practice squad, per McClure, are as follows:

    • Offensive tackle Corey Brandon
    • Offensive tackle James Brown
    • Defensive end Aston Whiteside
    • Quarterback Matt Blanchard

    Trestman - Kromer - Tucker - DeCamillis

I'm looking forward to seeing these guys coach. Hope they're good.

Pretty much as we expected and hoped. Like the list a lot. But there are 7 listed so who's the 8th going to be?

    A LB or WR probably.

Hopefully that they can play well enough to move to the regular roster in the near future.

Ditto. There are some talented young guys there. That's encouraging.

Unga is the only one of the 7 I kinda question here. He's basically Clutts-lite (emphasis on "lite") and we didn't see fit to keep the "heavy duty" version so why Unga? It's not like this guy showed anything positive during PS games but he just seems to keep hanging on/near the team in some peripheral way year after year. Rather than keeping 2 RBs on the scout team, I'd rather see a LB (Adibi?) and a WR (JAnderson or Summers) fill the 7th and 8th spots. Not a big deal I admit but Unga is kind of old news...

I would LOVE to see Chris Summers on our PS. But my gut feeling is that he's going to play for a team this year. He'll probably have a long, solid NFL career. I just hope he doesn't land in our division.

I liked Anderson a lot. I liked what I saw out of him more then Summers.

MP I agree, never understand the love Unga gets, he doesn't ever do much, he's a perma PS guy.
