I'm coming down with a friend to watch the Colts game as well. It's my first game in Chicago. We are staying at the Hilton, which I believe is only like a mile from the stadium. Is it pretty easy to walk over there or would it be a good idea just to grab a taxi? I also took Monday off, so any establishments that could be suggested within a walking distance of the hotel would be appreciated..

Is it the Palmer House Hilton? Either way, I'd taxi there. They will probably drop you off at the Field Museum, and it's a very short walk from there (like nothing). But after the game you just can't get taxi's. There are just too many people spilling out of Soldier Field. At least that's been my experience. So we just walk back. You'll be with a zillion other Bears fans as the huge group meanders back to the downtown area. Plenty of police. As you leave, you'll probably see at least one drunken Bears fan riding the dinosaur skeleton in front of the field museum (the police will take care of the riding idiot and escort him away). How they can climb that high, as drunk as they are, I do not know. Eighth wonder of the world.

Hope you have a LOT of fun. Good luck!!!

p.s. Don't ride that dino, no matter how drunk you are. The CPD will get 'ya if you do & they are not the most friendly types. No sense of humor

I don't think it's the Palmer House. I'd have to look, but it's right on Michigan Av....I believe its 720 Michigan Av...I have that memorized for my GPS.
Thanks for the tips. My buddy and I are life long Bears fans who live in central WI and never been to Soldier Field, so we are like a couple of kids on Christmas morning. It also looks like the weather will be awesome...Low to mid 70's, small chance of showers...We aren't really gonna do any sight seeing. We're coming down for the game and then gonna give 'er hell for one night on the town...

OK, from that Hilton you could walk it, but it would be peanuts to taxi there. And then you could walk back (less than 30 minutes walk back after the game).

Heading in from New Orleans Friday and staying @ the W lakeshore... Anyone have any tailgate suggestions for out of towners? We hung out with FORK U last time, but they are laying low this season...

also is Bull and Bear the place to watch college on Saturday?

Actually there's a pub at the hotel. Kitty O'Shea's may not be an authentic Irish pub, but, for a hotel bar, it is pretty darn close. It is less crowded than other Loop restaurants and bars and far mor relaxed.

Nite life pubs/bars? Watch more football? PARTY? It really is up to want to want. At the Hilton if you ask the front desk, they can give you some reral good advice as to want you want.

There is always Ditka's (right around corner from the Watertower). Not necessarily the "sports bar" of choice, but it is a "kill two birds with one stone" visit. Make sure to get the Pot Roast Nachos......sooooo worth it.

I'd go to one of the dozens of Blues joints. Ask anyone at the concierge desk, you can't go wrong.
