I heard Tony say that last night, but thought that the NFL isn't totally stupid. Since this was the opening act for the 2012 season, with a huge audience, they probably had the best set of replacement refs. Don't hold your breath that those guys are anything near representative of what we are about to have inflicted upon us once all 32 teams are in action.

[QUOTE=soulman;902459]LOL, got up pretty early to start arguing about this already didn't you? Nobody can be bad all of the time and since it WAS a nationally televised game you know the NFL had the best crew they could find covering it. Now if they can officiate 15 more just like this one I may agree with you but Sunday isn't here yet.

Hope your daughter does well following her surgery.[/QUO

Actually I got up early b/c my daughters having a minor procedure. And I watched the game but wasn't listening. I didn't see anything horrid though, and it appears nothing was bad according to the experts and no writers had anything to say either.

Jabf again: I'm not expecting a perfect game, I do expect mistakes and a few to be above and beyond normal refs, but it will hardly be the chicken little version. It won't be like fb's that rarely see the field being traded

Hope your daughter is ok. Good points regarding the refs.

JABF, Thanks, she's doing okay, she's throwing up a lot, but that was expected. She's been sleeping most of the day, which is also; but she's at least finally eating some Jello. Had her touncils and apnoides removed and I'm amazed how well she is talking, when he tries.

Again, and let me reiterate; I wish the NFL/Refs would have gotten this taken care of, but neither even thought to try. The refs(who are professional lawyers and business men, want to keep an antiquated retirement system in which I guarantee they know is no longer part of the real world AND want a raise; for what is really their part time job. It's not a strong platform to have the public on your side when they struggle to keep 1 job, let alone 2, let alone 2 well paying jobs; and sure to hell stand no chance of getting the retirement package. They also should have seen how hard core the owners were w/the players and knew that a strong stance wouldn't phase them.

From the owners side, stop being such a bunch of F'n cheap skates. Get these guys all at 6 fig's, and say 401K, tops, take it or leave it. The backup refs you brought in, while they will not keep people from watching, is going to neg impact how fans feel in the next negotiation; feel free to TRY and build up some good will.

I want both to agree to full time refs, but neither is going to so no point in hoping.

All good points Ric. Especially regarding the retirement. My employer had to make major changes and while it was tough, I understood the reality of the situation. It is what it is. I work for a good employer. I had to remind myself of that & that fact.

It could be a lot worse.

You mean Captain Insano? What's really insane is that HE thinks he's not dirty. I wonder if he also thinks the world is flat and that the moon is made of green cheese?

Anyone can say whatever they want about these refs . But I'll say this about some of the players and coaches : some of them are acting like total JAGS to some of these refs about BS stuff . They're trying to bullywag these guys into making calls FOR them and their teams ( even when they are totally in the wrong ) - and some of them are acting like 10 year olds about it .

It borders on attempt(s) at BLATANT CHEATING & it's fkn disgusting .

I know the pressure to win is enormous . But the regular refs are gonna have some trouble on their hands whenever they come back , cuz some of these guys are gonna get used to pulling this BS and they are gonna have to reign them back in.

I ain't never seen so many babies in my life .

Yes, the ghost of George Stanley Halas roamed many sidelines today.
