    Quigley Likely to Punt Sunday.......

Rookie punter Ryan Quigley ready if called upon Sunday

By Mark Potash on September 3, 2012 2:03 PM | 1 Comment | No TrackBacks

As a possible replacement for injured punter Adam Podlesh, rookie Ryan Quigley knows his status on the Bears' 53-man roster is tenuous. But so are hip flexor injuries. So it's more likely than not that Quigley will punt for the Bears against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday at Soldier Field.

Quigley said he has not been told anything other than he is on the team.
''They tell me what I needed to know,'' Quigley said. ''All there is to know in this league -- as I've learned in my short time here -- is that you can only control what you can control, what you do in practice every day. So it's all in God's hands. I just go out there and do what I've been doing for a long time and keep improving every day.''

An undrafted free agent from Boston College, Quigley is thrilled to be on an NFL roster, for however long he ends up staying.

''Any time you make the 53-man roster, it's a special feeling,'' Quigley said. ''I'm honored that the Bears thought enough of me to keep me around just for this time. When my numbers called I'll be ready.''

The kid has done well so far and if Podlesh isn't ready by Sunday then I'm confident Quigley will be. I think the greatest benefit for him so far is that he's had a chance to showcase his talents as both a punter and a holder and so far as I'm concerned he's been 100% at both.

He'll have some other teams interested in him after he's released.

He may not be a great directional kicker (yet) but he's got a strong leg and has flashed impressive hang-time more often than not. Having said that, get well soon, Adam!

If that's true, our gunners better be on their A game...
