The 20 Biggest Baddest Bears of All Time; #7 Ed O'Bradovich

    No. 7 Ed O'Bradovich

My father-in-law told me a story of O’Bradovich from when he was a season ticket holder during the Bears’ best years of the early 1960s.

O’Bradovich, a defensive end, got in a fight during the game and was ejected from the game. He was sent to the locker room, which, at the time, was beyond outfield at Wrigley Field.

After the final gun went off, O’Bradovich charged out of the locker room and back onto the field. His intent was clear. He was going to beat up the guy he had been in a fight with a couple of hours earlier.

That story is just a bit of what was big and bad about “OB.” He played with a nasty demeanor that represented the city he grew up in and played football in his entire career.

O’Bradovich went to high school, college and played professionally all in the state of Illinois.

"OB" was another Bears defensive great of the '60s and also another in a long tradition of great Bears DEs and also as the story relates a little on the crazy side too. He was a big guy for that era at 6'4" and around 255-260lbs and wasn't in the habit of taking crap from anyone wearing a different color uniform.

Sacks weren't a recorded stat in those days but OB had his share and would be among the Bears all time sack leaders if records had been kept. He was one tough, mean S..."OB".

One of the best lines ever : he was being interviewed by someone and they asked him to describe Ditka .... first words out of his mouth " Well .. he's got a personality like a fried lobster ..."

    And when him and Buffone get going :http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kLIGluetnj8 ( I recommend 03:00 > bout 4:05 )
What should you call any : Fumble , Hold , Interception , Three and out , or Sack ?

    A " F.H.I.T.S " ? or a J'Marcus ?

I love it. Damn I miss being able to listen to those two do a post game. You can tell they're two of Halas' guys. "Play Football for cryin' out loud". Two old buckle up your chinstrap and play, lunch bucket types guys. We're always talking about the stars but guys like OB and Buffone won a lot of games for the Bears. They were the Briggs and and Izzy to the Urlacher and Pep of today.

Thanks for putting this up Blue. Gonna save it and listen to the whole thing when I have more time.

You'll be able to listen to them after the game if you have these new fangled things calls "speakers". If you have a 4g phone, you can do the same thing. I listen to the score or 1000 espn all day(won't listen to the horrid afternoon show) at work.

OB and Buffone are must listen to after a loss. It's free thearapy; along w/this site ;p

LOL, yeah I keep forgetting just how much of this stuff is streamed now. 4G phone though? Nah. I only want one that will make calls and send texts not one that will play videos, take pictures and brush my teeth at night. I have other devices for that.

Call me old fashioned but I'm not willing to trust too many things to just one device. That goes tits up and life grinds to a standstill. I'll leave that stuff for my kids to figure out. I call that good risk management.

heh, ya it's all streamed, and w/that after game show it's well worth it. I only use the 4g for the radio and pandora so I'm not to bored at work. But 8 hrs is 8 hrs, and I cannot use the computer at work to do it so the 4 is necessary.

I hear ya' that's why I love being self-employed. It's my computer so what's on it is up to me. Just have to make sure I don't have too many things happening at once or sometimes it locks up. Firefox takes up too much memory sometimes but it streams a lot better than Explorer does.

Dude, that's the first time I've ever heard of Doug and O'B's radio show, and I didn't know that it was streamed online! That's fucking hilarious!
