He might get better, and I hope he does, but it won't be to suprising if he ends up more like bauzine(out of the league) then Freeney(one of the best speed rushers in the league). And w/the first round pick Emery was hoping for a Freeney.
One game a career does not make. His one noticeable good play displayed a great move to get free.

I fully expect a DE who's college career was built on the speed rush to take a bit to acclimate to the speed of the pro game. And....for the record, I don't really think Indy's line is that bad, they've got some good talent....the problem last year was who was behind them, not them.

Certainly he needs to improve, but I'm not calling bust yet.

    Ric,

I just do not believe Shane was as bad as you make him out to be. Read Biggs thought #6. The Colts gave him quite a bit of attention also, during nickle pagages. McClellin does have faults that need work, he is a too little "sticky" as you mentioned (needs to shed blocks better), and also gets taken too far into the backfield. That being said he was awfully close to a sack and a deflected pass... It will come.

Bottom line is that Shane did have an impact, he was facing several double teams. I don't think Melton is unhappy.

Ric -- I've got a feeling he's going to be ok. See how he is at the end of the year, and more importantly what sort of weight he shows up for beginning of next season.

Too early to be unhappy with him. No, he didn't come in with a strong and immediate impact. We were all hoping for that, but doesn't mean he won't be good. I'm willing to wait and see on him. Just got a feeling (don't think it's taco night kind of feeling either)

BiH, I tihnk he's at best going to be OK, that's the problem. His ceiling right now is very low for a first round guy...as a DE.

The problem is we all remember he was our first round pick, and in this day and age you need more than what he is producing

An overlooked feature was Jeffery's ability to block as well as rodriguez, I know we like them to catch passes but kudos for the effort to spring plays

I consider Jeffery our 1a pick and Shea 1b regardless of how picked in the draft. Shea can improve and I hope he does esp. down the stretch and used in doses.

For starters I don't watch preseason games. Second having wrs really makes that Jay Cutler trade look real good on the field. JA still sucks balls. Roy first down Williams would have dropped a lot of balls in yesterdays game. I like Michael Bush pick up and Webb actually had a good game while taking out the best DE on the colts team.
