No time for victory Monday, keys to the Packers game week 2

What are your guys keys to putting an early gap between us and the fudge packers?

    1. Pressure Pressure Pressure-we must get even more pressure on Rodgers (Shea now would be a good time to show up)

    2. Multiple targets- GB dosent have a great secondary so I expect them to double Marshall and bring some heat, bmarsh is great but some others have to make them pay for one on one

    3. Establish early run and screen game-slow down the rush and force those edge rushers to play honest

We need an early score or two. I don't like the idea of playing catch-up.

Hopefully Marshall doesn't drop any in the end zone this time.

I think the key is the line play. The OL has to be able to hold off the pass rush and open holes. The DL MUST be able to pressure Rogers.

The rest will be fine if we can do those two things.

It's gonna be a slugfest, but me thinks the playing field is a little more level this year.

The formula for beating the Packers defensively is what the Giants showed everyone last year. Constant unrelenting pressure on Aaron Rodger up the middle and DEs who can take away his escape routes. This is where McClellin should shine if he can chase him down when he tries to escape the pocket.

The defense needs to come out with fire coming out of there nostrils and put pressure on early. The LBs need to be aware of the Packers using screen passes, something they do very effectively, to beat the rush. Stop the Packers from scoring early as SF did yesterday and we improve our odds greatly. They generally beat us with a couple of quick scores and then we end up playing catch up. Reverse that and we stand a good chance of winning.

Offensively we should be able to pass pretty well on them. Their secondary is still pretty weak and if Alex Smith could pass against them pretty freely then Cutler should have another big day. Carimi needs to handle Matthews and Spencer needs to handle Raji (good luck with that).

I'd like to see the run blocking get a little more consistent this week too. Overall the line blocked fairly well but yesterday pass blocking exceeded run blocking. Spencer is still a weak point in that regard. This is another one of those games where we need to roll up 30 points or more. I'm not expecting a shoot out but that Packer offense is tough to limit to just 20 points or so.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

This would be the perfect time for a monster ST effort esp. if the game is close.

Most certainly shea really needs to step up his game and match Rodgers mobility with his gap closing ability

I saw him use a counter move and plant luck, ONCE so he showed he can do it but not with any consistency.

I also look for our DT rotation to collapse the pocket and crest havoc because luck avoided his certain doom a few times by having a gaping hole to step up into (a mobile qb could have ran a lot up the gut)

On offense I think they will force forte and Jeffery (Hester bennett as well) to prove they have to adjust off of what I'm sure will be a blanket on Marshall

Win the st battle and turnover battle and we will be just fine

The biggest thing for me is watching the Bears receivers against the Packers secondary. Their secondary is extremely physical, and they are likely to play dirty with the replacement refs in there. Their physical DB's have completely taken our wideouts out of the game the last several years. Alshon is tough, but he is a rookie who might still get bowled over. However, Marshall needs to level those fuckers. Having receivers who can actually stand up to tough DB's will make this game much different than last year's games, whether or not we win.

I saw Shea spin around a tackle yesterday and then rush towards Luck, forcing a bad pass. He's got the goods.
