I'd also add that it maybe Spencer on the bubble if they decide to move CWill back to OG. CWill and Rachal combined are making less than Spencer is. If he doesn't stat he's a mighty expensive backup. If we can afford him I'd probably keep him over Rachal but his contract may be a factor.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

I don't know if I follow what you're saying 100% soul. That first sentence is a little jumbled up. I get that CWill and Rachal are both making less money than is Spencer, but then you trail off and say, "If he doesn't stat (sic) he's a mighty expensive backup. If we can afford him I'd probably keep him over Rachal but his contract may be a factor." Who are we talking about keeping? Spencer, who makes way more than Rachal, or Chris Williams, who also makes more money than Rachal? I had to guess based off what you said, you're talking about keeping Spencer since he's making in excess of $3 million and dumping Rachal, but benching Spencer and putting Chris Williams in his place? Am I reading into what you were trying to say?

No, keeping Spencer as a $3mil backup is an expensive proposition. He's far more dependable in pass protection and able to play OC as well just in case but it's a judgement call if CWill does take his LG spot back. Will they keep all nine guys or go with eight?

Yeah. I see what you are saying. You and Dags could be right. I discounted it because to me having a better OG sitting on the bench so that he could be there to back up either OT if needed rather than play LG better than the current player makes no sense. I felt if he was going to get played at LG, he would already be doing it.
Ah, the mysteries of Tices convoluted logic....

This.
C.Will was our most reliable lineman last year at LG. He's never going to be a decent tackle (right or left). But he's a very solid LG.

Trestman - Kromer - Tucker - DeCamillis
I'm looking forward to seeing these guys coach. Hope they're good.

JWebb is listed on the injury report.

It doesn't look serious, but the combination of injury and some mediocre performance at G might have been enough to prompt this signing.

It's only his thumb so it's not a big deal. He may have sprained it or dislocated it which isn't all that rare for a lineman. They'll just wrap it up good and he'll play.
My guess is they'll see how well Scott does in practices for a week or two while CWill takes some reps back at LG. If Scott looks good enough to play swing then moving CWill back to LG will probably happen. If not then we cut Scott and it stays the way it is.
I gotta think they can't be entirely happy with Spencer's play. He's OK as a pass blocker most of the time but his run blocking leaves a lot to be desired. He'll be up against Raji this week and as far as I'm concerned he doesn't have anywhere near the strength to match up with him.
It should be interesting to see what happens but you gotta think this signing was done with at least the thought of returning CWill to OG. We really can't extend his deal as an OT now that he failed every attempt to start there so we need to know whether or not he's the guy we want to play LG from now on.

Does he play worse when he's injured?

I know it was just one game and don't want to count unhatched chickens yet, but Webb was very SOLID on Sunday.
Even early on when we were flailing, it wasn't due to Webb. All of that was on Carimi (who rallied to play well after a shaky start), Spencer, and KDavis. Webb handled Freeney fine and then dominated his replacement.
If Webb can play like that most every game, I'll happily take back all the bad things I have ever said about him. Spencer needs to sit though. CW back to LG ASAP please.
