Woodson stole the Heisman like he stole the ball from countless players in games. He's the only primarily defensive player to ever win it for a reason. Tramon Williams is coming off of a nerve injury that massively hampered his play last season as he wasn't able to jam receivers effectively which was what made him great the previous season. He showed flashes of that in the niners game, but needs to improve.
I didn't think losing Jenkins would hurt as much as it did, but apparently he was either the cog that made the defense turn or he somehow absorbed the talent of everyone around him and took it out the door with him.
Losing Nick Collins (who was one of the best safeties in the league) was a massive blow as we currently have some very young inexperienced guys playing back there now.
Raji is ineffective as he constantly gets pushed back and loses ground, although it doesn't help that we have two mediocre ends on either side of him at any given time. Pickett is old, Hawk actually made a play vs the niners (I actually almost crapped my pants when I saw it), losing Bishop for the season was a huge blow to our run defense.
Basically the only consistent guy we have is CM3, and he can't possibly do everything by himself. Perry has gotten some good pressure, however he looks terribly awkward in coverage. He definitely needs time to develop in the brand new position we thrust him into.
Davon House showed some definite promise in preseason before getting hurt and he should be back sometime soon. He was looking to take the 2nd CB spot which hopefully he will have by mid-season and save me from the aneurysm that would ensue if Bush is the starter all season.
Losing Collins and Bishop REALLY hurt the team. I give you that. But your GM is a WIZZARD at gettting players. MAYBE, Tice stoled some of that magic to use on the BEARS OL? lolQuote:

I will argue until I'm in my grave that Peyton Manning should have won the Heisman Trophy in 1997 because without him, Tennessee doesn't win the SEC or play for the National Championship down in the Orange Bowl, much less win more than 7 games that year because the rest of the team was average to say the least. I think Woodson made some difference for Michigan, but Michigan still had a great defense outside of just him. Of course, Michigan only averaged scoring about 27 points per game that year, which is not a lot in college.Quote:

One can't say without knowing who would have been starting in their position in the absence of said player and how they would perform. Maybe someone behind Manning comes in and plays well as the starter and maybe someone behind Woodson comes in and gives up 14 points a game in his absense. Speculating on how a team would be without X player has too many unknown variables to give an accurate answer.
