Those of you who think THAT's the root of the problem don't know a fucking thing about football other than how to turn the game on, open a beer and bag of chips and then bitch at the QB if things don't go right.

If you watched him carve up the Colts last week when he had protection then maybe you might reasonably come to the conclusion that just the opposite might happen when he doesn't. On the offensive side of the ball blocking comes before anything else just like tackling does on the defensive side of the ball.

There were many things to find fault with last night but Cutler was pretty low on the list of priorities. Start with a poor game plan and poor adjustments, add a large helping of shitty blocking, a 4 cups of his receivers failing to make big catches and then you can add a few spoonfuls of some poor decision making when he was trying to make something happen.

If you really want to bitch about QBs please take you asses to the Arizona board or the Cleveland board where a QB problem really does exist. We don't have one in Chicago.

Soul, that top highlighted line has to be the stupidest thing I've ever read from you on here. Of course Cutler was a large part of the reason we lost last night. I can think of plenty of times where, like JD said, he managed to scramble around, have some space to pass the ball, only to float one up that got intercepted. While I think two of those interceptions last night were unfortunate (one that should NOT have been intercepted due to Williams not having control of the football, the other that Bennett failed to run back and catch due to bad mechanics), the one to Woodson and apparently the fourth one that Cutler had after I turned the game off were just ugly. He had plenty of time to throw those balls once he got of the pocket, planted his feet, and could just throw, but he either let the ball sail, didn't find the right target who was open and threw into double coverage, or he under threw the ball. Anyone who believes otherwise must be smoking crack cocaine or something. Cutler could have at least managed the game enough to where we could have gotten a couple of more field goals and maybe a touchdown.

Now, onto the second point I highlighted. Arizona and Cleveland may have terrible quarterbacks, but I guarantee that they don't go out of their way to embarrass teammates on national TV or in the newspapers just for the hell of doing so. It's not good to not show support for your teammates no matter what happens, but that being said, Cutler is a horrible teammate. We really shouldn't be surprised at his lack of respect to players and coaches judging by what he said to Mike Martz while playing the Vikings at Soldier Field last season on Sunday Night Football. Anyone who says, "Fuck you," to a coach, no matter the situation, has no regard for others around him. If he wanted to make a point to Webb and the receivers for not getting open, he should have waited and done so behind closed doors. Cutler made himself look like shit, and frankly, he reminds me of Jeff George -- George could get his team to the playoffs occasionally, but his contentious relationships with fellow teammates and coaches ultimately cost his team wins in key situations.

The only thing I would change about Cutler's approach is that when things are going like they were last night I would be in Tice's face and Bate's face demanding some adjustments that work. He needs to get off the bench and stop pouting and do what a leader is supposed to do.

If your getting your ass kicked trying to storm the hill but the general says keep charging up that hill then unless you change tactics your gonna get your men killed. That's when the captain needs to tell the general to "fuck off" which is what he finally did last year with Martz yet last night he kept pushing a game plan that wasn't working. You don't win wars or football games that way.

After that penalty on Carimi has a pass play called to gain back some yardage and he has to be telling Webb I need time so make sure to take Matthews out and what happens. Two seconds after the snap he's wearing him like a shirt collar. Did he have a reason for kicking Webbs ass as they left the field. He sure as hell did! And what does the goofy fuck do? He laughs about it.

That kid isn't right in the head somehow. His reactions to things are consistently wrong given the circumstances he's confronted with. He has a body the size of a small house and all the physical talent to dominate but he has a brain the size of a peanut and it's been installed backwards. Like they say, you can't cure stupid. Spencer is another that needs to go. Those two together are a disaster on the left side.

I never see Cutler pee down his leg the way we saw with Grossman. What I see is a guy who gets frustrated too easily and fails to take charge when he needs to. Why I don't know. He has Bates with him now if he needs an intermediary to talk with Tice but last night was an example to a guy who needed a hammer to drive in a nail and they kept handing him a wrench.

It was a poorly developed game plan and it was poorly executed and by the third quarter it was plain to see that the offense no longer believed they could win. You could see it on their faces. That's something Tice needs to correct. When you have an offense like this that can score points you should never be out of the game even when you're two scores down and you need to keep them believing that. I guess no one bothered to figure that one out last night.

In a certain sense Lovie is too cool almost to the point of some arrogance himself. It's part of his job on the sideline to keep moral up and keep his guys heads in the game so why don't we ever see that. He's animated enough when things go well but stoic as a cigar store indian when they don't. He's all tight lipped and silent. When have you ever seen him call Cutler over and talk with him? If Lovie expects to keep his job he needs to get a whole lot better as a gameday coach and stop letting himself be out coached especially by the Packers.

That was one of his avowed missions when he took the job and he's done very poorly in that regard. McCarthy and Capers have his number and it's not like they do anything different it's that Lovie doesn't. What the definition of insanity? We all know the answer to that and last night was just one more example of it. Lovie is still not the lead dog so the view never changes. He just keeps staring right up McCarthy's ass game after game.
Soul, again, we disagree wholeheartedly. YOU DO NOT YELL AT AND THEN NAIL A TEAMMATE ON THE ARM WITH YOUR SHOULDER ON NATIONAL TELEVISION!!! That is not professional behavior, and the last time I checked, the NFL is in the realm of the professional world. It's inexcusable for a player to behave that way. As I've said at least three times now in at least two or three threads, you simply don't disrespect a teammate or a coach, even if you have a bone to pick with them, and you certainly don't do something like Cutler did to Martz and Webb in an area where the cameras can pick it up.

I'm guessing that by your support for what Cutler did last night, you also supported the pointed attacks he made on the current offensive line, specifically on Webb, in the newspapers during OTAs back in the spring? There is a thing called ethics, and that is not ethical in my opinion.

If the NFL is not professional, than I don't know what it is. I guess football players are gods, and we are to bow down and kiss their collective asses while we peons scramble to make a meager living. Football is a profession, and yes, there are ethics in every profession. If you can't see that, then I don't know what else there is to tell you.

It's getting WAY over-blown cuz it was caught on tape - and because Cutler has this double standard whipping boy label attached to him .

This stuff happens alot more than the avg over sensitive fan knows ( in all sports ) and it's not that big of a deal . It's football - not some calm molly coddle atmosphere like a kindergarden .

I don't understand why this is a big issue. Webb was playing like crap. It was both affecting the score as well as Cutlers health and as the QB, he let him have it. Happens many times each and every Sunday during the NFL season.

Why is this news? Webb was sucking (or eating a bag of dicks - along with a bag of anything else he could get his hands on), and Cutler let him have it.

He threw a great pass under pressure to a seemingly wide open Earl Bennett but Bennett's feet were planted in concrete and he failed to come back for the throw and protect it with his body so Woodson get's the pick. You can't hang that on Cutler. Another one of his guys lets him down.

The pick that Tramon Williams got earlier should have been over turned and I can't believe that it wasn't. The replay clearly showed the point of the ball hitting the turf. They ran it several time on the replay and that pushed the ball back into his hands and his chest. Anytime the ground provides and assist it's not a completion or an interception. Either someone doesn't know the rules or the NFL is trying to protect their "scrubs" by over turning as few calls as possible. It was a bad pass but still not a pick.

I stopped watching in the 3rd because they'd given up. You could see it on their faces. Why would a team with that kind of firepower just give up unless someone besides the line, the WRs or the QB were having a bad day so far. Why is because Tice or Lovie had no clue of how to get out of the mess they were in. The solutions were never part of the game plan to begin with because Tice didn't expect what he got from the Packers coverages.

If it's not in the game plan then it probably wasn't anywhere on his play calling sheet either and that means they never prepared for it.
There was no Plan B to go to. That's what frustrated Cutler and the rest of the offense. Marshall could have been the perfect decoy. He drew double coverage almost all night and when he didn't Cutler hit him for what should have been a sure TD. Someone else had to be open at times but did he have time to go through his reads? Not very often. Tice persisted with his down field game against a cover-2 like we play but Cutler never had time to hit guys in those soft spots that we know all too well.

Rodgers didn't most of the time either but they adjusted and dumped the ball off and threw off some quick drops. It wasn't Rodgers best game either but they gave him enough to win with. That comes down to preparation and game day coaching. They always beat us with that every time we play them.

Cutler is the best QB we've seen in Chicago in over 25 years and he's capable of winning any game he plays but nobody can win games without protection and a decent game plan and last night he had neither. So yeah he pouts too much when he should be doing more ass kicking and cheer leading and that's on Lovie's shoulders too. They need to have a sit down and talk about how both of them can keep the offense in the game and come up with a way to exploit a bad situation and turn in around.

I'm not taking Cutler off the hook completely but at times he's like a MLB pitcher who throws a great game and give up just a couple of runs but his guys can't score and he loses. It's frustrating to any QB it's just that he shows it more than most others because he's never been phony about his emotions and it would be dumb to think he ever will. Give him what he needs to win and he'll win and that starts with time to throw.

It's time to but CWill back in at LG and see if that makes any difference at all on that side of the line. If not then the next step is to bench Webb for at least one game and see if that wakes him up. Apparently he never feels like his job is in jeopardy so if the only way to show him that it is is to bench him then do it. If he can't play with more consistency than he does he's worthless to us and it's hard to believe anyone else could do much worse.
Soul, help me out here. I'm not trying to be flippant, I'm being sincere. I only played 2 years in high school as a scrub safety (I was small but made up for it by being slow) so you probably know way more than me about these nuances.

Ok, we know that GB has played a lot of press-man and cover-1 on our (puny) WRs in the past. Disrupted timing and freed up Woodson or someone else to join the blitz parade. Now this year it is a new story. Their secondary is suspect, maligned, and the Bears finally have some big boy real WRs to contend with. So they change their shell to a softer man-underneath, 2 deep cover-2 look to respect the Bears newfound aerial attack. They still bring 5 pass rushers most every chance.

This is a shocking surprise to Tice? This is not forseeable? This is so unexpected and unheard of that Tice has NO PLAYS OR CONTINGENCIES WHATSOEVER available to combat this never-before-seen defense? That we happen to play all the time?Really???

Doesn't every team have plays in their arsenal designed to deal with various coverages and game situations?

Was it really a total failure of preparation or was it a failure of recognition and reaction?

It is a big deal, bears. The NFL is part of the professional world. As with all professions, there is a certain code of conduct by which one should abide. You don't go and in public, either on TV like last night or via the mass media back in the spring, attack a significant portion of your team, nor do you attack any one member of the team. Webb, for all his incompetence, doesn't deserve that. On the other hand, how do you like it when the media crucifies Cutler for not being a leader or for making foolish errors in reading defenses and trying to deliver a ball to an open receiver? I didn't think you liked it. It's such a double standard, then, that Cutler would criticize his teammates in public and show anger toward them on national TV, whether intended or not because let's face it -- there are cameras all over the field picking these things up now, yet he sulks when he has to face up to the media during press conferences and answer questions about his competence as a leader of this football team.
