Matt Forte suffers a high ankle sprain
Matt Forte's high ankle sprain puts Michael Bush up
Brandon Marshall was the Chicago Bears' biggest offseason signing, but Michael Bush might be the most important. For now, at least.
Do-everything-running back Matt Forte left the Bears' 23-10 loss to the Green Bay Packers in the third quarter with a right ankle sprain.
A source who has spoken with Forte told NFL.com and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport the running back has suffered a high ankle sprain, but the Bears do not have a clear timetable for his return. Forte's availability will depend on his pain tolerance, the source said.
Not only does the Bears' offense start with the run, but Forte brings a sense of calm to complement the at-times-wild Jay Cutler. Bush becomes the starter if Forte is out for any length of time.
"That's why I'm here: They brought me here to pick up where (Forte) left off, if something went wrong," said Bush following Thursday's loss, according to the Chicago Tribune. "It's the insurance plan, I guess. I'll be ready."
Bush has been one of the premiere No. 2 running backs in the NFL. He ran for 977 yards in 2011, most after Oakland Raiders starter Darren McFadden was injured. Bush had 54 yards on 14 carries against the Packers.
Bush brings more of a power game to the backfield than the sure-handed, slick-stepping Forte. Though a different style of back, the Bears run game should be fine if Forte misses games.

Do-everything-running back Matt Forte...
As the name says it's gonna be a hard blow to lose him. Against the Rams we can live without him, but against Cowgirls I doubt it. Even with Bush it's still not the same. Oh dear please let him recover fast, even with Bush it's just not the same as two explosive RB.. or wait one RB and a do-everything-running back.

Ya gotta hope this is not a 4-5 wk inj and just a 1-2 week thing.

Most say that it is usually a 3-6 week injury

Chill out, people. Look how many catches Bush had last year. He's not as dynamic, but as long as the offense is being used properly, we'll be fine. Jeez, where's evernight and loki when ya need 'em?

Booker wasn't released. He's on IR. Actually Bush looked pretty good last night and they probably should have used him more. The guy seldom if ever gets negative yardage and he's the up the gut power runner we've been looking for. We lose some big play ability with Forte gone and he will be gone for a while. If he can't cut on that ankle there goes one of his biggest advantages when he gets loose.
So Bush gets his chance to shine and he did with Oakland when McFadden went down. It is what it is and we change our approach which may not be the worse thing in the world. Tice seemed to have abandoned any semblance of a power running game until Bush played last night and then he was busting past the second level for some nice gains but when you're two scores down well there goes the running game.
It might be a good idea if Tice made better use of all of the tools he as instead of just reaching for the ones easiest to get hold off. He left a lot of them in the toolbox last night. Bush can help establish a running game if they'll use him correctly and get him some daylight to run through. The whole reason he's here is because Forte has been prone to injuries and we can win with Bush at RB. I'm more concerned about Armando Allen backing him than I am Bush.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

I think we'll be okay without him for the Rams but for the Cowgirls not so much. With that being said we are lucky to have a good 1A guy in Bush. Bush was one of the better Phil Emery moves this off season.
