Does Anyone Else Remember Lovie's FIRST Press Conference?
i just looked for the vid for the better part of 15 mins, and couldnt find it.
the very first thing he said when he got up in front of the media is "our goal is to beat the Packers". Not to win the division, or confernce, or super bowl, but to kick green bay's ass.
i also remember he started off making good on that goal. this was at a time where we needed some miricle win to beat farve. i for one was pretty freaking happy with that.
now it seems were back in the same boat. i think lovie had farve figured out. however rodgers has us figured out. my god.
last night reminded me of cutlers first game with us. it was up in green bay, and he couldnt catch a break to save his life. looked like a rag doll out there.
so in the last 3 years what has changed?
i say not a damn thing!!!
the key to beating cutler is very simple.
1. get pressure on him
2. once he is frusterated he will start forcing throws
3. INTs will follow
4. and finally cutler will beat himself for you
its that simple. brandon marshall matters very little when he cant catch the first ball that comes to him that happens to be a TD we really really need. he matters even less when you dont throw it to him
to be honest if i were lovie once jay gets pissed off i'd pull him. let him calm down, and RUN THE BALL!!!!!! once he calms down put him back in, and RUN THE BALL!!! then lets try some slants, screens, play actions, but first RUN THE FREAKING BALL!!!!
i'm not saying were done, because were not. last night wasnt about losing to the packers it was about HOW we lost to the packers. it should have been a true blow out. the score did not do the game justice.
i really really hope we can look at this game and LEARN from it! and i hope that someone wakes up and realizes that if cutler is pissed off, it doesnt matter what plays you run, or what you tell him, he is going to force the issue and lose the game.
my .02 cents

I remember it. Only reason he said "beat the packers" as the first goal was...
1. play up to the meatballs who think that is the most important thing. You know, those who say "I dont care if we go 2-14 as long as those two wins are against the packers"
2. because in order to win the division (second goal) you need to beat your division rivals.

Of course we do but he's being out coached every game because no matter how good his defense plays his offense can't counter their defense and he has no idea how to fix that problem except to use that same old worn out excuse that we didn't execute well.
I'd be looking at those game tapes today and having a serious sit down with Tice and Bates about getting off the bus running again. When you know a team is gonna blitz the hell out of you like that you either need to find a way to pick them up or you burn them with hot reads on short slants into the areas vacated by those LBs or the Safety. There were no adjustments of any kind like that last night.
Lovie's defense did one of the best jobs against Rodgers I've seen in a long time but we still can't win. If Lovie loses his job after this year it will be because his OCs keep throwing him under the bus. Lovie needs to learn something about offensive football and start coaching a little more from the sidelines during the game and keeping his team in the game.
That stoic tight lipped manner has worn out it's welcome with me. He needs to start demanding offensive adjustments during a game and not just wait until after the fact to have a sit down with his OC. Then it's already in the past. We may as well have forfeited that game last night for all the good it did to play it. Then at least we'd still have a healthy Matt Forte.
Where was the oft advertised "Hester Package" last night. He should have been able to burn them with some quick slant off 3 step drops. Why not circle Rodriguez out of the backfield and drop some passes into the zones those LB vacate when they blitz like Rodger did with Benson to keep a drive alive.
Like I said. It's getting pathetic to watch the Bears get out coached every time we play the Packers and no matter how much we tighten up on defense the offense is never prepared to control the game. We weren't out manned last night. We were outsmarted........AGAIN.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

Packers went blitz happy last night not just because our OL sucks, not just because their secondary also sucks, but because the formula for beating Cutler has been well established on tape during the years he's been in Chicago.
He cracks under pressure. Plain and simple. Truth hurts.
All the more so because the Bears coaching staff continues to show a maddening inability to account for blitz packages and call plays that beat them. It wasn't quite Martz-caliber in its idiocy yesterady but it wasn't all that far off. I didn't see a single designed rollout, a single slant, or a single well-executed quick "hot read" throw. Whether it was on the coaches or Jay or both, we were going to keep trying to throw outside or 15+ yards downfield and we were not going to change it. No many how many sacks, pressures, and picks came our way. Jaw dropping...
Sorry to anyone who wants to blame the OL alone (and I agree they sucked), I see good teams with good coaches and good QBs burn, torch, and toast blitzes all the time. We, on the other hand, look utterly helpless.

i'm with you boys. its like the true definition of insanity: Keep trying to do the same thing that fails, and EXPECT differnt results.
with Martz gone i expected to see a more balanced, short gain offense. there is nothing wrong with getting 4 yards every play. oh yeah and it keeps rodgers off the feild.
freaking unreal, i'm still pissed.

Wasn't that the first time he fell asleep on the job?

I am sure it started off about us not playing as well as we should have, how do I know that its because that is what he seems to say every time we get our ass kicked.
-
He's given that speach a few times. Maybe next time he'll just put on the tape and go back to sleep.

For all you JC needs to accept responsiblity and what not. Why should he, the coach sets the example and when was the last time you heard " I didn;t put the team in a position to win......."

Couldn't have said it better myself. I'm tired of the "Lovie In The Headlights" look and attitude. This needs to end NOW !
