Bears running back Matt Forte could end up missing a month or more because of an ankle injury suffered during Thursday's loss to the Green Bay Packers.

Looking for reinforcements, the Bears are leaning toward re-signing Kahlil Bell, according to a league source -- though the club worked out Steve Slaton, the former Texans and Dolphins back.

Bell was with the Bears in camp and was cut -- because, at least in part, of what was a high salary at the time. Any new deal likely would be closer to the veteran minimum.

With Forte out, Michael Bush becomes the primary ball carrier.
This blows. Packers may have ended our playoff hopes in one game. :-(

This means he might miss only 3 games & be back for the Lions game which is after our bye week. That's what I'm hoping for anyway.
    Go Bears!

I was hoping for an October 1 vs. Dallas but am not surprised to hear this. SHIT!!!

Definitely a post-bye-week return vs. Detroit and no earlier then. I still think we can handle St. louis and Jax fine w/o Forte but it makes the Dallas game on the road that much tougher. Crap. That sucks.

If your going smoke funny stuff while posting you might just pass it around. Forte is just one part of our Offense he is not the big guy here any more, yes he is very important but we can win without him unlike the past couple of years.

This may be a blessing in disguise . Forces the Bears to have more of a power running game approach ( which is something I think they need to do anyways ) and the blocking will be better for it in the long run ( hopefully ).

And Matt comes back rested and ready to carry the load the remaining portion of the season. I'm psyched to watch Bush - I think he's gonna be awesome .
What should you call any : Fumble , Hold , Interception , Three and out , or Sack ?

    A " F.H.I.T.S " ? or a J'Marcus ?

I think we will be just fine with Bush/Bell (provided the OC actually uses them properly) for the Rams and the Jags. Missing Forte's explosiveness though will hurt us against Dallas. Not saying its insurmountable, but it is a loss.

To ME, it's the OL that will make the difference. Add in the game plan. Good game plan ,OL is average ,and Dallas and Detiolet are NP. BUT it's the elite teams I just don't see the Bears amtching up with, long term. Sure a game here one there, but they just might lose a WIN here and there so it evens out. The playoffs is , to ME, where it lies. Whats the point of getting to the BIG DANCE with a HOT DATE, only not to SCORE. IF the Bears can't make it to the SB, whats the point. I'd rather them have a better draft pick then fake it to the playoffs. They should have loss at Minny last year. What was the point you won , didn't make the playoffs and had a shittier pick. Add in the BU injury too.
The passion of a few, to rule the many, that's Washington D.C.. Where else was that said before, about whom?

We've gotta establish the running game early, and Bush is a good RB to do it with. Now if we can just get a quick pass game to match up, we'll have an o-line that isn't playing horribly. We don't need to come out in our big games trying to show our offensive muscles. Just showing that we can move the ball, and when we're at the red zone, scoring TD's instead of turnovers are all this team needs.
