True, and even then...each oval is different. the 2.5 mile Superspeedways like Daytona are way different then the tiny 0.5 mile short tracks like Bristol. Different setups, different driving techniques.

And what BearStuff said...they are simply different sports, i respect both, and am a fan of both (dont get to watch much F1 though).

The main appeal about NASCAR isnt their technical prowess navigating hairpin turns in the most technologically advanced pieces of machinery on the pavement like F1, no NASCAR's appeal is the "anything can happen at any given moment" type of excitement. Comparing them is precision vs chaos. F1 fans expect precision...drivers running the correct lines to be the fastest with the best equipment possible, whereas NASCAR fans expect chaos to ensue where any driver can win on "any given sunday."

Best analogy i can give is music: F1 is like a classical overture from Mozart where every note is specific and has to be hit with the right tempo at the right time at the right volume to create a beautiful piece of music. NASCAR is like jazz music..you can start out following a piece of music, but it can deviate into a freestyle solo that might sound a bit odd at first but is still an amazing listening experience all the same.
Pretty much spot on. Nothing to disagree with really.
I just preffer F1 over NASCAR. I don't know why put the few races I've seen ust doesn't catch me the same way F1 does. Perhaps it's because of DRS and the tirres. Pirelli really made the sport more exiciting than ever with different champions, and unexpected overtakes and such. I guess one of the reason why I enjoy F1 more than NASCAR is because I've grown up with it. It is THE motorsport like Indy/NASCAR is in US. Ha I remember having F1 for my PS1.. Good times.

Speaking about motorsport... I just came across this question: How big is speedway in the US? Do you guys even know the guy Greg Hancock?
    Oderint dum metuant.

Lol yeah thats the difference between them...you are talking about something as basic as tires change that leads to more overtakes and stuff, but NASCAR....there are many different strategies for moving to the front, most of which are pit stop calls...takeing 2 tires instead of 4, having a fast pit, staying out and gambling on fuel, so many different strategies at play, makes it interesting.

Had to look him up, so im going to say no...very few Americans have ever heard of him or "Speedway" racing. But it appears to be a kind of dirt track motorcycle racing. Closing thing we have is Motocross, which does have a decent size following here.

Since I'm currently abroad, I take any football that I can get. So I got to watch a game and a half. I didn't even make it through the second game before I had to quit.
