Anyone watch the Cards @ Pats game today?
Let's see what we had there:
An underdog facing one of the best and most explosive teams in the NFL...
On the road...
Home team has a great O but a suspect pass D that needed to get to the QB to survive...
Visitor has a premier WR (LFitz) that the home team was not going to let beat them...
Visitor has a very poor OL in general and a specifically weak LT (starter out, backup playing)...
Visitor's D was doing an outstanding job pressuring the QB and holding a premier O at bay...
Home team's DE/OLB (Chandler Jones) was wrecking havoc early on the QB and schooling the LT play after play...
Everyone could see (announcers included) that visitor needed to help out their LT to give their O a chance...
Hmmmm, what happened coaching-wise?
Arizona adjusted. Ran the ball more, hit a few short passes, didn't lock on Fitz (1 catch, 4 targets all game long), and added chip/TE help to contain Jones. Result? Gutted out a huge 20-18 win on the road.
Was it due to better alternative or overall weapons on O?
Is Kevin Kolb >> Jay Cutler?
Are Beanie Wells + Ryan Williams >> Matt Forte + Michael Bush?
Are Early Doucet + Todd Heap >> Earl Bennett + Alshon Jeffery?
Is Patrick Peterson (he played some O) >> Devin Hester?
Or might it have been that the Cardinals' coaching staff utilized them wiser & better and gave their team a chance to win a closely fought defensive battle?
You be the judge.
