Instead we finally (with Emery's help) have solid WR's. Next year he'll fix the oline.
I agree and I think that's exactly where this is heading (whether we do well or flop this year). JA did a terrible job evaluating young talent, especially on the O side of the ball. The ONLY standout offensive player he drafted in 10 years (correct me if I'm wrong) was Forte. He failed at drafting WRs and OLs in particular and that's why were we in the pickle we were in when Emery arrived last spring. We had JACKSHIT at both spots, especially with Knox a goner for 2012. Can you imagine where this team would be now, after Emery's improvements, if JA had just signed Bushrod when he had the chance a year and a half ago?

What should Lovie do to "right the ship" before it sinks?
Bring back Roy Williams as First Down coordinator. Obviously he had SOMETHING to do with it last year...

JACKSHIT hasn't been playing well for us lately

Could / can he be worse? Hell , maybe he can play LT and LG at the same time. Worth a try.
The passion of a few, to rule the many, that's Washington D.C.. Where else was that said before, about whom?

Florio: Bears Could Be Looking For A New Coach, Quarterback In 2013
September 19, 2012 11:00 AM
(WSCR) It’s been nearly a week since the Jay Cutler drama began after the Packers game, but the fallout is still coming.
Wednesday, during The McNeil and Spiegel Show, Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio said that if things don’t change with the Bears, the team could look drastically different in 2013.
“That’s just the way the guy is,” Florio said. “The Bears had to have known that or at least should’ve known that when they traded for him. With a new GM there and a coach who is on the hot seat, if this all falls apart, and we get so caught up in the outcome of the most-recent game, but if this all falls apart, you could see a new head coach, new quarterback in 2013.
LISTEN: Mike Florio on The McNeil and Spiegel Show
“People at Halas Hall are concerned that there is going to be a mutiny. If he does something again at some point, J’Marcus Webb isn’t going to just laugh it off. (They’re afraid) something ugly is going to happen, whether it’s at practice, whether it’s in a game, whether it’s in a meeting room - the fuse is getting shorter and shorter. There’s concern that something is going to happen.”
I personally don't see this happening. First, I think Lovie did handle either right after the game, or w/in the next day or so. Secondly, I still see this team making the playoffs, and if they do that, no way Lovie goes, or JC. The team still has him through next year and no reason to jettison him to soon, and if it goes well after that you can either sign him or FT him if need be. But it does give you a hint that not all is well at Halas.

Lot of pie-in-the-sky speculation there in the heat of the moment after a crappy game. Winning will make all this a distant memory. And I do think we are still going to be a force in the division and in the NFC come December. Green Bay isn't going to win 15 games this year, fellas. Not by a long shot. Not with their schedule and the weaknesses they've shown to be exploitable late last year and so far this one.
I do think that the most likely person not to be in his same role a year from is J'Marcus Webb. I gotta believe that Emery is going to go hard after one of the big FA LTs that could (hope!) be available this offseason and Cutty is basically going to tell him "I am not signing another contract until you do something about LT".

I agree MP. Det is nothing special either...this Div might not be as dominant as I thought it would be in the NFC as a whole, but the Bears are still right in the mix to get into the playoffs.
Webb, Spencer, Garza are all very possible no shows next year. Most obvious is Spencer since he's already been benched. Webb next. The least likely to be moved is Garza; but one can only hope Edwin can finally take over and be the next starting C for years to come Garza was near Empty a few years ago, moving to C seemed to have added a few more gallons, but it's time to get someone in there to be the future since he was never a great C or even a long term answer.
I don't think that was pie in the sky speculation though, Florio is well respected in the NFL and is known to have sources. If the Bears don't make the playoffs it wouldn't be unrealistic to think they might decide to rebuild w/Urlachers knees being what they are. That might mean jettisoning both HC and QB for various reasons. I won't agree with it, but I could see how Emery might want to make a clean slate of sputtered season(if it were to happen). I just don't think it WILL happen.

Cutler will stay, and they will finally get him a "real" NFL oline to play behind. That will happen next year. Emery isn't JA. He understands you have to have an oline in the NFL - at least an average oline.
Lovie and his pals will be shown the door if he doesn't put together a deep playoff run this year. Book it. It's coming.
Trestman - Kromer - Tucker - DeCamillis
I'm looking forward to seeing these guys coach. Hope they're good.
