    Urlacher: Bears still support Cutler

    Good read.

Brian Urlacher tried Thursday to steer clear of the controversy related to Jay Cutler’s sideline run-in with tackle J’Marcus Webb. But the Chicago Bears linebacker and defensive co-captain did offer an opinion.

"I didn’t pay attention to it locally or nationally," Urlacher said. "Everyone was asking me about it, but I still haven’t seen what happened. And I don’t really care what happened.

"Whatever happened, it’s over with now. We’ve moved on. It doesn’t seem to be an issue. Someone told me there was a mutiny against Jay in our locker room. If there was, I didn’t know about it. I guess we’re supposed to be mad at him, but things happen on the sideline."

Cutler gave Webb a slight shove and yelled in the left tackle’s face during last Thursday night’s 23-10 loss at Green Bay. Culter said he talked to Webb and all the members of the offensive line individually. Nickel back D.J. Moore said Cutler shouldn't have treated Webb in that manner.

"People get mad," Urlacher said. "I’ve gotten in spats with coaches, players as well. It happens. ... People get pissed off and sometimes do things we shouldn’t do. But it happens."

Urlacher was asked about his approach toward moving forward when such an incident occurs.

"It’s just like a fight in practice: It’s in practice, who cares?" he said. "You guys probably see us fight in training camp every year. So what? After practice is over, you’re in the locker room (and) you’re buddies again.

"It’s not a big deal. You lose your emotions sometimes out there and you get mad. But once it’s over with, it’s over with. We spend a lot of time around each other, so you better get rid of it real quick. It’s going to be a long season if we don’t."

As for the state of his left knee, Urlacher said, "My knee's fine. Been a week now since we've played and it feels fine."

I'm looking forward to seeing these guys coach. Hope they're good.

I liked his response though. He's a savvy vet who knows what to say and what not to say. He also knows how to conduct himself appropriately in front of a national TV audience.
