I don't think Cutler can ever be an elite QB, even if he were to win multiple SB because the media won't let him. For the media to say he is an elite QB is to say they have been wrong about him since day one.
the media doesn't determine elite play. That's done on the field. And they have admitted they were wrong before...Eli was a bust until he won 2 sb's...and damn near run out of town in NY last year after winning 1.
The media has no adgenda that cannot be overcome by winning. Look at their love/hate relationship w/Romo.
They are back tracking on Alex Smith. Good play and winning, or at least storng play in big games makes the media say good things about you.
It was claimed the media just hated the Bears, but as you saw in the offseason there was plenty of love being given b/c the D was still good, the QB was good the WR talent was good.
Cutler will never be elite. However he will be the guy that can lead us to another SB. If he has the right folks around him he can win SB no doubt. Right now all that stops us imo and everyone else I assume is the Oline. If we get that fixed next year + have a Urlacher I would count us for really superbowl contenders.
Maybe I am a homer, (ok, not really a maybe, I are one) but I wouldn't trade Cutler for any one of those three. Put in the same situation, they would likely provide similar results, maybe a little better, maybe a little worse. Now, one of those three with a couple solid O-line prospects.. now we're talkin'. (In my dreams)
I wouldn't trade Cutler for Flacco; but I wouldn't have minded us drafting Flacco instead of Williams, and then not trading for Cutler and then keeping those picks and then letting KO walk into FA after mentoring him for a bit. As for Ben, not the current ben, but in his prime, 3-4 years ago it's hard to say he wasn't better, and definately harder to bring down.
oh, and that's not to say I think Flacco is better, but I think it's close enough having 2 firsts round picks back gives Flacco the advantage.
I was referring to Bossk's statement that he wouldn't trade any for any of them.
