Thanks, you too. You keep it on the level and don't resort to smack/hate. I might not have ever played the game, but I read and listen and watched the nfl and about it, and have for years and I've picked up on tidbits here and there over the years and have a fairly solid base.
There are a ton of good posters I rarely agree with, you and Soul, and Y primarily, but I appriciate the posts all the same.

Per Colin Cowherd there is a deal in place in theory and maybe able to play this weekend.
Colin further defined, 18K full time employees w/no pension, 175 part time that do.
Consessions have been made on both sides on all sticking points.

Sources: Ref lockout could end soon
Updated: September 26, 2012, 12:03 PM ET
By Chris Mortensen | ESPN
The NFL and the NFL Referees Association made enough progress in negotiations Tuesday night that the possibility of the locked-out officials returning in time to work this week's games has been discussed, according to sources on both sides.
An agreement in principle is at hand, according to one source familiar to talks.
Although league sources said it would take a week to get the locked-out officials on the field, the NFLRA says its 121 referees have been trained on the new rules implemented last season, have already passed physicals or are prepared to pass physicals immediately. New official game uniforms designed by Nike are "hardly an obstacle," according to a source.
Both sides have made concessions on previous sticking points such as a taxi squad of 21 new officials and pension plans that sources say the final meaningful hurdle is, as one source said, "about a little more money."
While league sources say owners who participated in a conference call with commissioner Roger Goodell during Tuesday's talks had instructed the negotiating team to set a firm barrier for the financial settlement, the NFLRA is prepared to accept a new agreement primarily in the form of a "ratification bonus," which would compensate its 121-member union for concessions it is willing to make.

NFL reaches agreement with refs union on backup crews
The NFL and NFL Referees Association have reached an agreement on the issue of backup crews, reports NFL.com.
The league compromised in putting 21 full-time officials in developmental program. The 21 officials (three crews of seven officials each) will not be part of a regular group of NFL officials. The regular officials are still locked out as retirement pension remains an issue.
The NFL and NFLRA negotiated past midnight on Tuesday, but are still far apart on various issues.
“When you take a group of officials who have a collective experience of 1,500 years off the field and you replace them with a group of replacements who don’t have that experience, our players know that the workplace today is less safe than it was with the real officials,” NFL Players Association executive director DeMaurice Smith said on “CBS This Morning”.
The officials had a defined-benefit pension plan and the NFL wants to eliminate that plan and switch the NFLRA over to a 401(k).

FWIW, I find I agree with most of your posts/viewpoints. Probably 9 out of 10. And the ones I don't agree with, I find that I can follow the logic of your thinking. And some, I know I'm probably wrong, but I'm stubborn enough to argue my point anyway

I'm stubborn too; I see it in both my kids more and more everyday. I'll argue until the dead horse is dust ;p.
The only time I lose it is when someone claims I have no idea, or have no reason to think one way b/c it shows they are more against my PoV then what I've actually said. I rarely make 100% definative statements for or against something. Me and Soul have gotten into it; don't think you were around last year during the lockout, but like you said, I could always see his point. I pride myself it trying to understand someones PoV, even if I disagree w/it.
unless i'm in TBS, then it's flame on ;p

Ya your nuts if you think these are the best officials in sports.
Vegas didnt lose money, just the bettors did. Packers were heavy favorites (80% of bets were placed on them to win), so those who bet lost the money, those who bet on Seattle won their bets, but overall, Vegas still made money on it.

Jimmors, I know. That was the point, the first time Vegas loses 125 mil they'd be all over the nfl.
btw, see post 13 and 14. An agreement in principle is done; and they are both trying to see if they can get the regular refs back by Sunday.

Well theres a difference between "Vegas" and people betting on games. "Vegas" implies the actual sportsbooks that take bets. If that is what you are referring to, then they will NEVER lose 125M. In fact, since 1995, theyve only actually lost money one time on NFL bets...SB XLII where the Giants upset the Patriots. Alot of people bet on the Giants, even though the undefeated Pats were the favorites, and Vegas lost $2.6M.
In this case, a heavily favored team (Packers) that many people bet on to win (80% of bets), only to end up losing the game, actually benefits the Sportsbooks, since that is alot of money they take in, and less they have to pay out (only have to pay out to those who bet on Seattle).
But yeah...those who bet on the Packers were hella pissed, and they all lost their bets...but there is nothing that Vegas can do about it since its the NFL that makes the call on who wins or loses. Long term, they reduced the odds of the Packers winning the SB from 7-1 to 9-1, so that is definitely an impact being felt because of this game.
