Henry, we all remember that bad calls were made and will continue to be made by the officials. That's the nature of the beast. The "Human" element as it were. However, it's the degree that will matter. The bogus officials were just SO much worse that their mistakes stood out much more.

Finally, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers, and Drew Brees can start winning again.
Yes, we all saw that the replacements had more bad/missed calls..... but least with the replacement officials, the bad calls went both ways. When the regular officials make bad calls, they are often slanted toward one team.

• Eight-year term covering the 2012-2019 seasons. ***near decade w/out anymore issues sweet***
• The current defined benefit pension plan will remain in place for current officials through the 2016 season (or until the official earns 20 years of service). The defined benefit plan will then be frozen. ***the compromise by the NFL***
• Retirement benefits will be provided for new hires, and for all officials beginning in 2017, through a defined contribution arrangement, which will have two elements: an annual league contribution made on behalf of each game official that will begin with an average of more than $18,000 per official and increase to more than $23,000 per official in 2019, and a partial match on any additional contribution that an official makes to his 401(k) account. ***compromise by the refs****
• Apart from their benefit package, the game officials' compensation will increase from an average of $149,000 a year in 2011 to $173,000 in 2013, rising to $205,000 by 2019. ***compromise by the nfl***
• Beginning with the 2013 season, the NFL will have the option of hiring a number of officials on a full-time basis to work year-round, including on the field. ***compromise by the refs***
• The NFL will have the option to retain additional officials for training and development purposes, and may assign those additional officials to work NFL games. The number of additional officials will be determined by the NFL.***compromise by the refs****
For all the heat suposedly on the NFL they really got what they wanted on all parts, just some of it was delayed 1-10 years, minus the pay increase which I really didn't think they cared about anyways. The idea for the NFL was always to hold these guys out 4-5 weeks. That got upped by a week b/c of how the bad the replacement refs were.

It sounds like the refs got a good deal too. Both sides compromised and found a middle-ground they could live with. The best contract negotiations work this way.
Trestman - Kromer - Tucker - DeCamillis
I'm looking forward to seeing these guys coach. Hope they're good.

the refs(current) got their pension for now, and all refs get a very nice pay raise no doubt. But the NFL got everything they wanted, eventually, but the huge pay raise.

I would counter that it was already an issue made by the media and public before they even stepped foot on the field. That there ever was controversy made this a first world problem..

I think we're just beginning to learn that he was our equivalent of a replacement ref. A replacement GM. Well at least JA was an improvement over Mikey McCaskey. Of course most fourteen year olds with a Madden Game would have been an improvement over Mikey.

Well of course we do Henry but they didn't blow calls or misinterpret common rules calls at anywhere near the level these replacements did. Come on man they were in way over their heads and everyone could see that you included.
I don't disagree with you that they were just trying to do their jobs and I'm not angry at them. The NFL put them in a can't win situation. Guys who officiate at the Division III college level, at HS games and in the Lingerie League for Christ's sake are not competent to officiate at this level and it showed. I think most of us are upset with the NFL not the refs themselves but in order to criticize the league for their arrogance and short sightedness you have to criticize the performance of the officials. It's impossible not to.
So now we have the regular crews back all making the same mistakes they always have. You know, the ones were already used to. And we'll go on bitching about those calls like we always have too but at least they'll be that many less to bitch at. There is no way that any sane football fan could watch the games presided over by "the replacements" and not see that these guys didn't know what they were doing and that they were losing control of most games.
Anyone who didn't see it either wasn't watching much football or they don't know the sport very well. If those officials were still capable of doing a decent job the NFL owners would not have capitulated overnight to issues that just days before they were still refusing to budge on. It couldn't be any more obvious that it is that those guys were turning games and the NFL into a mockery.

The media made it a issue because these were NOT the same officials quality wise as was the case the last time replacements were used. These were NOT division 1 college officials but rather division 2,3 and (choke) former FIRED "underware league" rejects who were so incompetent that it was a joke that the NFL even considered using them in the first place.

You're kidding right? You actually believe that the regular NFL officials call games that way? That's the most ridiculous contention I've ever heard. Every official is evaluated every game on tape and anyone one official or any crew of officials who are consistently slanting calls towards one team or another would lose their jobs. Sorry brother. Ain't happenin' that way even though it may seem like it sometimes.
I've yet to see any photos of an NFL official wearing the jersey of his favorite team appear on his Facebook page just before he was scheduled to officiate one of that teams games. I've also yet to hear of any NFL official who ever tried to encourage a specific player to perform better because he had that player on his Fantasy Team. On top of that he was the one official in that game most directly responsible for calls on plays that player would be involved in. So maybe a borderline incompletion gets called complete when it benefits that officials fantasy stats hmmmm?
Come on. The NFL hired unqualified, part time, amateur officials to officiate professional games. Did they really think the results would be all that much different than they turned out to be? The higher level guys who officiate at Div. I or IA college level were smart enough to turn them down. Even those guys knew they had only borderline competency at the NFL level and they weren't gonna expose themselves to the embarrassment the others experienced or risk the good thing they had going where they were.
People need to stop clutching at straws to justify the performance of the "replacements". They were in way over their heads and the NFL knew that from the start. This whole thing is just one more example of the arrogance of guys like Jerry Jones, Jerry Richardson, Pat Bowlen and a few other owners who think they can run the league anyway that it suits them and that "sheeplike" fans, will just spend their money on their NFL "product", shut up and like it.
Well they were wrong.
