The packers are 1-2 where the bears are 2-1.

I don't think that's completely accurate Henry. The media and the public questioned the wisdom of using these guys to begin with and they had every right to do it. The NFL was hiring officials from HS and college levels only slightly above HS levels to officiate professional games played by much bigger and faster players playing under rules far different than they were used to officiating.
If you didn't question that yourself, and I believe you did to at that time, then why didn't you? You sure as hell should have. We all should have. It didn't jive but we did accept the fact that it was gonna go down just that way and so did the press. It was like "we don't think this will work but if you say so NFL then I guess we'll give it a shot". We did and we were correct to begin with. It didn't work did it?
How would you have responded if the players would have remained locked out last year and we had another NFL season or partial season with replacement players from high schools and Division III colleges? Would you rather have Matt Blanchard as the Bears starting QB or Jay Cutler? (I know you'd rather have Chad Pennington but that's not one of the choices, LOL).
Ginny McCaskey won't even let us bring back the "Honey Bears" so we'd have missed out on all that Lingerie League talent too.
You wouldn't have supported paying pro game prices to watch a game played by amateurs so why should any fan pay pro game prices to watch them being officiated by amateurs who aren't competent to officiate at a pro level anymore that HS and Division III level college players are to play football at a pro level?
The controversy began and continued to exist because the NFL owners made it so not because of the fans or the media. Don't be turning this around trying to place the blame anywhere else than where it rightfully belongs. They created the problem, the games revealed it, and all we did was call them on it. I'd do it every time.
What will be the excuse for the regular season refs be when they make a mistake like the replacements?
1) The whistle got stuck
2) All I see is dollar signs on the field
3) Someone blew the whistle too early
4) There was a yellow flag malfunction
5) The packers were due to have a bad call go their way
6) They are still better than the replacement refs
7) We gave the harbaugh brothers a bad call just so we don't have to listen to them
8) I like having Bill Belichick touch me
9) You can't touch Peyton Manning or Tom Brady even if they have the ball
10) other
at least the betting should go back to normal
6) They are still better than the replacement refs
The refs aren't perfect, no. None of them will have a full understanding of what constitutes holding (and neither will any of us). They are still going to let the Packers' DBs get away with murder on receivers. This we know. However, the quality of officiating will be greatly improved. Other than getting star struck from time to time, NFL officials are on the up-and-up. They make the game legitimate. The replacement refs were clowns who didn't understand the rules, were in way over their heads and would often take five minutes to decide a call which was instantly clear to a fan watching on TV. The refs won't be perfect, but things will still be much better.
I'm not arguing that the "replacement" refs' inexperience was obvious, but the media and fan reaction was both stupid and over the top. That the players and coaches treated them with no respect makes me respect them less (all the more better that it was a ******** packer) as well. That fans have ALWAYS ripped the refs, and actually think this was the worst call of all time shows remarkable ignorance. If they're all as traumatized by SB XLV as I and the Seahawks were, and can't remember it, FINE, but this was the BEST of the BEST calling the game, and effectively handed the SB to the wrong team. Point: Nobody's perfect, and treating these people like trash shows the quality of your character, and LOVING the people who have ******'d up for years is just stupid.
On the replacements I was't bent out of shape because of the calls...
My frustration was in how the games were being managed by the officials. I was upset on how disrespect the players and coaching staffs were. Fines? seriously, some players and coaches should have had game suspensions. I did not notice any bias towards any team and could give two shits if they had nfl sponsored underwear of their favorite teams on while they were working the games. I am just hoping that the flow of the game is improved.
Using replacement Ref's is no different then if the NFL used replacement players, sure the players were trying, but it wouldn't be the same. 1987 anyone?
I don't hate the replacement officials. I hate the owners for bringing them in when they knew the integrity of the game would be blown up.
