Can the Bears Truly Beat the Cowboys....
The Bears defense looked really good in their win over the Rams last week, and if we can continue to keep that kind of intensity on defense, it will make it hard for teams to beat us, because our offense has struggled in the last two games, and if that continues, the offense won't be winning any games for us. Dallas also relied on their defense in last weeks win over Tampa Bay. They got the win scoring only 16 points because their defense stepped up in a big way. I think its gonna be a battle of the Defense's. But more importantly a battle of QB's. Romo is known for his toughness on the field and his ability to get his offense going. Culter on the other hand "right now" is known throwing temper tantrums and critizing this offense which dont help. So those are the 2 factors that i think our key to winninng this game. Defense and POSITIVE communication between QB and players. What do you think??

Dallas has a tough pass defense. Their run defense is average. Tice needs to call a solid game. The oline needs to take another step in improvement. Cutler needs to keep his focus and not let emotions get the better of him. The "D" and ST's need to be at the top of their game.
If these things happen we'll beat Dallas.
One side note. Cutler doesn't do as well in night, prime time, games. There is another thread that documents this. These often tend to be the games where he's "Bad Jay"....
Trestman - Kromer - Tucker - DeCamillis
I'm looking forward to seeing these guys coach. Hope they're good.

Did anyone see the stats on Cutler on primetime night games away from Soldier field? He's bad. Tice has to limit Cutler and move make the run game more imporant. Thats for any team when Cutler is playing at night away form SF, but moresoe for Dallas who has a great rush and decent DB's but can be run on.

I want a steady diet of MF + MB with a short slant/screen game thrown in there. Nothing over 15 yards until the above is established. When they are loading the box, then you can think about taking a deeper shot to Marshall or AJ.

Im trying to be on the positive here so i wanna say that although Cutler's stats for prime time games are bad, i want him to be spectacular this Monday night and really bring this team up to the level i believe they can perform at. I know i must sound like a broken record but that is only going to come to pass if both offense and defense do their part. The defense has its improvement that need to be make like constantly pressuring Romo into a scramble while keeping in mind that he will run it he has to, but the offense is what concerns me. If we cant get a "groove" going and really start putting up some good offensive number the team will suffer as a result, and i dont want that to happen. If we beat Dallas this Monday that will definitely show that this team is capable of great thing in the rest of the season, but it is going to be a big hurdle to climb. Dallas defense has a good pass rush and that can hurt cutler if he aint careful.

That's my thinking too Ric. Let the offense get settled a bit instead of trying to hit home run passes early. Running, and high percentage passes early. Help for Webb too.

Bingo.
Hopefully Tice is "on his meds" tonight, so he doesn't revert to "Mad Mike" Martz.

The Offense is growing, and the defense is solid.
If we avoid the big mistakes on offense (run the ball to establish the pass) then I think we can win.
Romo is able to avoid presure, so the key is to keep him in the pocket and pressure up the middle. Pressure in his face is the key, because he can throw on the run.

For the first time in a long while, we can bring major pressure up the middle and off the edges. I'm loving the idea of using those specialty packages Marinelli came up with to bring Pep/Izzy/Paea/Melton from the inside sometimes freeing up Shea to chase down a fleeing QB. I can see SheaMc chasing down a flushed-out Romo coming... Love it.

My thoughts exactly !
After watching Shea chase down Rogers I believe he can be the "X" factor by eliminating Romo's ability to escape the rush. If we can play ball control and keep the "D" fresh we will prevail. The Cowboys secondary can be had and with a balanced attack the Bears will be able to open it up.
I see a lot of sacks in this game and hopefully the majority will come from our "D" !
