Actually, Brandon Marshall has more problems with drops than Hester. He led the NFL in drops over the past 3 seasons. His drop rate is also higher than Hester. So, it's not a situation where you quit throwing to Marshal or Hester. I still think we need to use ALL of our weapons when we can.

The problem is that Cutler isn't getting the time to progress through his reads on many passing downs. So he often forces a pass to a well-covered Marshall.

If we stopped passing to WR's who drop balls, the only guy left would be Bennett. And even Bennett sometimes drops balls.

Dallas isn't stupid on defense. They're not the #1 passing defense in the NFL because they're stupid. They will take Brandon Marshall OUT of the picture in this game and see if Cutler will be able to go through his progressions to hit another receiver before their excellent dline gets to Cutler. They KNOW Cutler is prone to taking sacks and getting rattled. Once the sacks begin coming, "Bad Jay" is there for the rest of the game.

Sadly, I'm afraid this might work. The obvious way to stop this is to have plenty of plays where the first option is someone else. Will Tice/Bates call that? Will Cutler actually look at the first option first?? I assume he does. It would be very interesting to see how often each receiver was first option.

Bears receivers coach Darryl Drake has no problem with Devin Hester lobbying for more touches. In fact, Drake wouldn't have it any other way.

"As a receiver, you better want it,'' Drake said Saturday. "If you don't want the ball, I don't want you. If you don't want the football, what good are you ... what kind of competitor are you?

"Every receiver I've ever known has wanted the football. When I was playing as a receiver, I wanted the football. And those who don't, they don't need to be playing receiver.''

Hester, who has two catches for 27 yards, told ESPNChicago.com that it's hard to be an electrifying player without getting your hands on the ball. Quarterback Jay Cutler obviously has targeted Brandon Marshall (16 catches, 214 yards) more often than Hester. Offensive coordinator Mike Tice talked in the preseason about having a Hester package, but that has yet to be evident.

Hester was targeted in the end zone during last Sunday's 23-6 victory over the Rams, but Hester and Cutler failed to connect.

"I thought it was a tough catch but one he has to make,'' Drake said. "It was high. But every ball is not going to be perfect. Here's our philosophy: Make the ones that you're supposed to make, and make the ones that you're not supposed to make.''

Drake believes Hester will find a rhythm, eventually.

"We're not going to give up on him,'' Drake said. "We're going to keep sawing wood, keep trying to get better.''

Devin Hester makes a one-handed grab for a TD reception at Dallas.

IMHO along with Webb and a mid rounder,... trade his azzz to the Phins for Long

I'm getting really sick of the snibbling with this team and who's not seeing action and who's not getting it done ,...

SUCK IT UP Devin you're getting a check ,.. you NEED to work for it

Well if Bennett has to sit(as reported is a possibility) he'll get his chance, along w/Sanz I would assume.

The entire pre-season, all we heard about this all-powerful "special package" they were putting in for Hester to destroy defenses. I wish they wouldn't keep telling us this crap if it's not true. I'm OK if they don't want to use Hester. That's fine. Just don't feed us a line of crap on these things.

I think this is my #1 complaint with Lovie. I wish they'd just be more honest with the fans. That doesn't mean they have to tell us anything and everything. I'm fine with not telling fans about stuff that needs to be kept secret. But if you CHOOSE to tell us something. Tell us the truth.

Lovie's disdain for the media has soaked into the team in general. You hear it in Lovie's voice when he interviews all the time, as if the fans and media are football stupid and cannot possilby understand what is going on out there.

I do think they have a special package for him; but if Cutler won't look past BM, or whoever is the first read on any given play, what's the use in having it? Cutler has to stop locking in and holding the ball so long. Snap, read the field, throw the ball to the open guy, BM or not.

I see some of Cutlers regression in giving him so much control of who was brought in this offseason, his old #1 WR, his old QB coach. Gotta wonder who's really calling the shots; we heard he audibled 40+% of the plays in week one, how many in week 2 and 3? And if it's that much can you blame the OC on the game plan that was only 50-60% implimented?

I am frustrated with Hester's role too. Just not the same way Hester is. I am frustrated with all the attempts we gave him to be a weapon on offense, and he runs the wrong route, or stops short, or doesn't catch the ball, or doesn't jump for it, or doesn't make a block. I am frustrated because of the money paid him to underperform. I am frustrated with "Hester's a #1 WR" from the coaching staff. Note to Hester: No mmore bitching. Git 'er done.

Everyone is talking about the WR but in our case it's not the WR, its not whetherthey getting the ball or they dropping the pass. Its Cutler not checking the whole field and not getting the ball to the open receiverand to add to that he has been very inaccurate in his throws. Even when he has the time he seems to want to rush the pass
