Coach's Big Decision: When to help Webb?
Webb HAS to have help or Ware will kill Cutler. Having Rodgriquez out hurts our blocking too.

| Deciding when to help on DeMarcus Ware is a big decision for the Bears. |
Left tackle J’Marcus Webb once again becomes part of the difficult decisions the Bears must make Monday night when they face the Dallas Cowboys. Schematically, the Bears must pick when they choose to provide help for Webb, who squares off against Cowboys pass rusher DeMarcus Ware. If the Bears operate out of max protection on most passing downs, they can’t send as many receivers out on routes. If they decide to leave Webb in one-on-one situations, the Bears run a greater risk of Ware coming off the edge and sacking Jay Cutler, which potentially could lead to turnovers.
Offensive coordinator Mike Tice has already said the Bears can’t always provide help for Webb. So the club needs to be smart about when it chooses to provide assistance, meaning details such as field position and down and distance will come into play.
Having already run out of chances, Webb could be pulled from the starting lineup if he performs poorly. That’s another difficult decision head coach Lovie Smith or Tice will have to make.
That decision becomes more difficult because the Bears don’t have many alternatives on the roster. The Bears could decide to insert Chris Williams for Webb, or it could opt forJonathan Scott, who was added on Sept. 10, and has started 28 games throughout his career at both left and right tackle with the Detroit Lions, Buffalo Bills and Pittsburgh Steelers.
It’s unknown whether the staff feels comfortable with Scott, who has been with the team for fewer than three weeks. So if the Bears decide to make a switch at left tackle, Williams would seem to be the most likely option.

The Best way for the Bears to help Webb and Themselves is to dump this guy OR TRADE HIM ,.... maybe they can get a new bench heater for him

A change is needed at LT I am just not that sure the Coaches are willing to make that change.

This came off Fox Sports but it does have its points.
Talk about a mismatch. DeMarcus Ware will be going head to head with J’Marcus Webb, the infamous Bears left tackle, in Monday night’s Dallas-Chicago battle. Ware had his way with David Diehl and was all over the field Sunday vs. Donald Penn. J’Marcus Webb? To quote Seth Meyers, “Really?!” This could be uglier than Tyson-Spinks.

The question should be phrased more like "when not to help Webb", and the answer is whenever Ware isn't on the field. We need a passing game and in order to do that well Cutler needs some time and space. If Webb can't provide that on his own then he has to have help often and Tice will have to make do with just three available receivers. End......of......story.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

The way I would go about it is to run at Ware, a lot. Run draws to his side in passing situations & push him past the play. I'd also run quick slants, swing passes, screens & rollouts away from him. On all other plays I'd give Webb help.
Unfortunately Tice seems to think play action works without establishing the run first & I'm not sure the quick slant is a part of his play book. I'm pretty sure the Cowboys will blitz a lot & we have to hit some quick passes & turn them into big plays. They like to play press coverage on the outside so there will be some opportunities there. I look for our defense to continue to play well & have a feeling Hester might have a breakout night on returns. However Tice has not given me a reason to think he will call a smart game but I'm hoping he surprises me. If he does this is a very winnable game.

I've said it forever and a day. (okay since right before the regular season) He's got until this game, THIS game to get his **** together enough that Cutler's not getting thrown like a rag doll. To be fair tho, when Martz finally figured out how to use the personnel correctly last year, he wasn't doing horrible at all. Let Cutty play like Chad Pennington and throw those quick, accurate passes and let our BMF RBs slice and dice that team. When you've done so many short yard gains that get us first downs, you can start playing like Elway and throwing the long bombs. Personal plea to tice: EVERYONE is expecting you to throw it deep downfield at least 3 times in your first 2 series. Why don't we scale that **** back a little, eh?

Just sprinkle some Tice pixie dust on him and everything will be all better.

I was thinking the best time for the coaches to help Webb is as he is leaving Halas Hall for the last time.
