Tyron Smith was the top LT candidate in the 2011 draft. If I remember correctly the Cowboys played him at RT his rookie year after having re-signed Doug Free to a contract extension as a LT. This year they're each learning a new position and struggling.
Had we drafted Reiff we'd most likely be going through something similar with our new LT too. There are no quick fixes as far as a great LT goes unless you can steal on from another team in FA. This coming year one great one, Jake Long, and two pretty good ones, Ryan Clady and Jermon Bushrod hit FA. If Webb doesn't mature into his starting role look for the Bears to sign one of them.
Unless we plan on finishing 5-11 to be in a position to draft one, that's the only "fix " I can see for our LT problem. And it won't be cheap.

I'd be happy to get someone , who isn't great, but for the most part can hold his own. Help for ANY OL here and there is fine. BUT when you have to account for a whole game in the gameplan, then thats wrong. OK, someone needs help cause player X, is awsome, fine. The next game you need to help , say OG this time, fine. When you HAVE to help the LT EVERY play, every game , something is wrong. Look at Philly game ( DEAD HORSE ) It's Phillies 3 sting LT starting, and I think he did better then Webb against NY. He wasn't AWSOME, but I'd take that in a heartbeat.

I can see the headlines tomorrow:
Cutler bitches out Webb hits him on the head.
Of course it won't say Cutler thanks Webb pats him on the helmet.

Or TR yelling ( ok, talking to) at his WR"S. Of course someone who gets on a player for not holding his own, is a BAD leader/ team mate. Just wait 15 seconds on yell on the sidelne to DO it. it's OK,media will see no difference.

If it took Cutlers actions from last week to get Webbs head in the game, I would say at least in this game it worked.

I never saw the game but from what highlights I could catch it seems like the line did a decent job. Webb got his guy around the end of the pocket and the interior guys gave him space to step up and throw. What a difference a little blocking can make huh?

Webb and I can't believe I am saying this did a nice job last night

the whole line did a good job, not only Webb. Too bad that this was just a fluke. Games like this make Tice, Smith and maybe even Emery think Webb can be our LT now and for the future.

I thought the protection looked pretty good last night.
Were was Ware? I will need to go back and watch the O-line specifically to see how they got it done, but if I remember correctly, the one time that ware got to Cutler was when Cutler was trying to extend the play even though he should have just thrown the ball away.
I honestly believe that Chilo is making a bigger difference on the left side than most thought. The biggest thing that I like about him is that he goes till the whistle blows.
Good showing from the o-line
