    3Nagurski's Quarterly Bears Review.

After quietly watching from the shadows, I have returned to bestow my thoughts upon this Web-Site.

    1. What is with all the media-whoring over Jay Cutler. His fight with Tice, his "scrunchy-face" on the sidelines, his "chest-bumping" Webb, and so on. Sure, he is no Tom Brady, but, he is getting the job done. As far as I am concerned, Cutler is doing a good job. However, I can not help but get the feeling that many fans are waiting for him to fail so that they can point their booger covered finger and say: "see, I told you he sucks"...!!! Nothing to read here, move along please.

    2. The defense. What more can I say. They are doing very well. Especially in the turnover department. I can not wait to see them bust up Aaron Rodgers when the Packers come to Soldier Field. The jury is still out on our "#1 draft pick. Not quite seeing the light of that selection just yet.

    3. The offense, in my opinion, needs some work. I think it may have been a different game should the Bears have been playing from behind. I think Tillmans interception return may have changed the game planning for both teams, if only slightly. Having to choose between the rushing offense and the passing offense, I would say the rushing offense is more effective. Jay Cutler has been assaulted in the backfield this season already. Surprising Aaron Rodgers is one of the (2) people sacked MORE than him. With Forte limited, they HAVE to get the passing game jump started. I am still suspicious of the pass game since they played the Packers.

    4. Special teams are doing well, I guess...??? However, is it just me or are the Bears starting drives from within their own (10) quite often...

Oh crap, lunch time...that is all for now...go in peace...live large and prosper...!!!

    lol, thanks for bestowing....

As for special teams, I'm not buying. Not because we are starting on the 10 after punts...in most cases we don't have much of a choice. I don't like the coverage units' tackling (not always, but most of the time) meaning we give up good starting positions. Podlesh is great, Gould is great. We also aren't getting good blocking on returns and have penalties called on returns far more this year. In all, I'd say that we can improve, but aren't as talented in the S/T department. HOWEVER, I'll give that up for better depth at Off/Def positions.

Last night was the first time I've seen halftime adjustments this year, which is both pleasing and disturbing. We need better play calling on offense (run first, play action second, fewer f-it I'm going deep) and we saw that last night too.

    1) As long as Cutler's basement is as low as it is, his attitude will always be called into question, right or wrong, might as well get used to it. Cutty's a jerk, but he can be that way if his lows are no lower then the 1st floor and not the basement; and his ceilling remains high.

    2) D is way over acheiving, and I'm okay w/that. The O apparently needs them to still be big time.

    3) O is shaky and needs work. But it seems to be getting corrected much sooner then it was getting previously. I disagree this OL needs to have the OC try and establis the run early. D's need to remain worried about Forte and if they are not; they easily shut down the pass and get to Cutty early and often.

    4) ST, Punter/kicker are great, return men not so much. I said it in my what we learned thread that Hester is no longer bound to break one; not sure why, but it's true.
